The app has no weight and is not a huge investment. I've used Wise Pilgrim on the Francés and the Portuguese Caminos. I especially like the offline map that shows where you are relative to the Camino for those times I'm not paying attention and wander off the Way.
If you haven’t already watched Rob’s videos about the Camino, search for then on youtube. He offers many tips and advice helpful for your first or fifth Camino.
Buen Camino!
It’s a rainy day in Nájera today, light drizzle most of the day after last night’s rain.
We had 5 Spanish pilgrims last night and 4 hospitaleros.Heidi, the second hospitalera arrived before the pilgrims, She immediately set about exploring the bits and leftovers in the refrigerator to create an...
Last night we had an interesting group of 11 Pilgrims; 4 Spanish, 4 French, one American, an Australian, and a Canadian hospitalero walking to Grañon for his posting. He had worked in Nájera several times so he was a wonderful source of information about the city and it’s citizens.
No one from...
We had 13 Pilgrims Monday night with only 11 Tuesday and Wednesday nights. They all seem to start their day in Logroño and arrive within an hour of each other. Given the shorter days, the cold, and the clouds threatening rain I would stop before dark too.
After we open I sit outside reading and...
Hi mspath, I found myself on Calle Mártires yesterday so looked for Mesón El Buen Yantar. I regret to tell you that it seems to have been closed for a while. I will go by again this evening after the Pilgrim rush, LOL, is over to make sure.
I arrived at the Nájera municipal albergue last night to cheers from the pilgrims and a hug from the volunteer hospitalero. There were supposed to be two volunteers on duty, but one had left suddenly. There were 27 pilgrims staying the night. 27 was more than half the number that could stay and...
Hola, I finished the virtual Frances in Finistere last week. I am now on the Central Portuguese Camino having passed through the tomato farms into the vineyards 88 k along the way. Is anyone else on this Camino?
I wasn't feeling well yesterday so got a late start. I'll be coming to Foncebadon soon, there is a restaurant there that has the BEST hamburguesas on the Camino. It is a must stop for me. In 2016 six of us walked up to the Cruz de ferro after dinner with several bottles of wine. We watched the...
Hola todos, I am nearly to Saragun, the half way point of the CF. Maybe this time I'll get the half Compestela. In 2017 there was a line waiting for the clerk to arrive at noon on a Sunday. She was late, then took 10-15 minutes with each pilgrim. My friend and I were eight and nine in line. We...
I just passed through Estella.
When I was here last it was early Sunday morning during a fiesta weekend, people will still drinking in the streets as we trudged by. The wine fountain was nearly bone dry, I got a single drop, then it was dry.
I am nearly to Pamplona. I began my second Camino there in September 2017 because I couldn't face the climb from St Jean. We spent the day before exploring, buying food and our credenciales. In the morning before starting off two ladies asked us if they could walk with us to find the way. One...
2020 is the first year since I first went to Santiago to volunteer at the Pilgrim Office in 2015, that I haven't returned. I enjoy the old town so very much. Pilgrims arriving every day finding old Camino friends and reaching their long held goal makes for such a joyous spirit. This virtual...
