    Winter Camino Frances?

Hi enjoyingthejourney. You have received excellent advice above. All I would add is, when the opportunity opens up, do it! I walked in winter from SJPdP through Santiago to the Atlantic. Plenty of ice and snow ... particularly around O'Cebreiro. Many places closed. But was the most terrific...

    New Communication Technology

Hi. I am just back from the Camino Frances, walking SJPdP to Santiago and on to Finisterre and Muxia. Regarding means of communicating between peregrinos and with home, most people I met were using WhatsApp on their phones. With wifi now in practically every albergue and bar, there was...

Hi La Hormiguita and others planning for a Feb start. I arrived in Paris today (Mon 8 Feb), leaving for Bayonne tonight and expect to head out from SJPdP on Wednesday. Look forward to catching up with any other forum members on the track around then. Cheers, Peter J

Sleeping bags again ... but in winter this time

Sleeping bags again ... but in winter this time

I am planning to walk from SJPdP to Santiago, then on to Fisterra and Muxia, in February and March 2016. Of course I will have a down bag and silk liner but, given winter conditions and unheated albergues, and sometimes the absence of blankets, the question is ... what weight bag? I don't want...

    Walking Camino Frances in February

Hi Mark. I too am planning to walk the Camino Frances from February 2016, starting from St Jean Pied de Port mid-month and continuing through to Santiago and, probably, Finisterra and Muxia. I would be happy to communicate with you. As others say, Margaret is a wonderful source of information...

    Planning For September-October 2015

Hi Thomas Like you, I am in my 70th year and plan to walk the Camino Francés from SJPDP to Santiago, starting in September 2015. Walked the last 160 kms of the route in 2011. I live in Melbourne, Australia, and would be delighted to keep in touch and, hopefully, meet up occasionally on the...
