Senior Newbies planning first Camino- advice?

Highly recommend you contact Katherine at Follow the Camino and she will book your pensions/inns for you at the pace you desire, with breakfast and luggage transport. Additionally they send you detailed walking notes for each day, a training program and lots of great info. I’ve used them three...

    SJPDP to Orisson?

The first day to Orisson is a tough climb. Highly recommend you start the next morning, get there by lunch, relax in their lovely patio, and make your first Camino friends. My friend and I found we were strongly connected to 3 other women at our table via the Air Force, a little town in...

    Aggressive scammers near Barbadelo

I encountered the supposedly “deaf girls” scam in the woods near there last year in September - the ones I encountered were (reference to particular ethnic group deleted) suddenly she could hear and shook her head. I was very upset that a group of Koreans were giving them 20E notes, but I...

Favorite albergue in the Camino Frances

Your one picture that captures how you feel about being on the Camino!

These are my two favorite photos - one the Way marker with my favorite hymn on it, and my intrepid friend Ursula, who grew up in East Germany and has been exploring the world since the wall fell in 1989.

    First time - planning jitters

Hi Deb! You’re going to LOVE the Frances! I found so many great packing lists for the Camino on Pinterest, I consolidated the best of them and began a checklist of what I thought I would really need. I only had two things I never used: my headlamp (I stayed in pensions - felt like I was too...

Favorite albergue in the Camino Frances

I absolutely loved the little Albergue O Cruceiro between Portomarín and Ligonde. On the left in this tiny village with a cafe and pension with private rooms in addition to the albergue. Family-owned and operated, the Mom lent me clothes when my bag didn’t show up, daughter called Portomarín...
