    Somewhere in Ventosa.

Sorry folks, I’m having trouble attaching the image. Life on the camino Edit: lol got it to attach but apparently twice

    Somewhere in Ventosa.

This bar is hilarious. All the locals yucking it up and there is also this… (see pic). When I asked the owner, he demonstrated how the pig squeaks when you squeeze it. Hilarity ensued. And the paella was really good!

    CF detour to Cañas

I'm happy to report that my plan to detour to Cañas at Azofra is back in play! If all goes as planned, I will do this on Sunday, May 28. This will be my second day on the Camino, and I will be starting from Ventosa that morning. I hope to visit the monastery Santa María de San Salvador de Cañas...

Disparities between Wise Pilgrim and Brierley distances

I became familiar with the term “decimal dust “ when I worked at a federal agency in Washington DC in the early 1990’s. It was used to refer to our agency’s very small annual budget approved by Congress.

Disparities between Wise Pilgrim and Brierley distances

    Also known as "decimal dust."

Which Brierley stage stops should I NOT skip?

I am also beginning my Camino in Logroño (May 27) and walking to León, where I will take the San Salvador to Oviedo and then the Primitivo to Santiago. Is that your plan, or will you stop in León?

Do you really need to visit the Pilgrim Office in SJPdP?

Can you tell me more about the location of the seasonal pilgrim office in Logroño? I’m arriving there by bus and that is where I am starting my Camino. Thanks.

Advice on getting two beds at San Anton convent

This is an older thread, but thanks to all who have provided input. Staying at San Anton is my biggest wish for my upcoming Camino; if my plans hold, I should be arriving at San Anton either on or very close to the full moon of June 3rd. In addition, seeing the full moon setting in the west...

Please plan to stop in Navarrete 8 miles outside of Logrono

I am beginning my first Camino from Logroño on May 27; I plan to have this be my first stop as well!

    Michelangelo painting in Logrono

I grow old ... I grow old ... I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.

    CF detour to Cañas

I was hoping to do just that. I may yet try.

    CF detour to Cañas

Thank you for the link to the article. It is very sad about the closure of the monastery: just 5km off the Camino Frances, and with such important history. I do not think that I will get lodging in the town , but another person suggested calling a taxi, which would make the detour doable. I am...

    CF detour to Cañas

Actually, this is a great idea. I had planned to walk on to Cirueña if I couldn't find lodging in Cañas, but I can always call a taxi to get me back to the camino!

    CF detour to Cañas

Thanks for the reply; sadly, the casa rural is booked for my dates, and the other is too expensive for me. I will probably not take the detour.

    CF detour to Cañas

Thank you for this tip. I did get some good info from Google maps and your link; the monastery is permanently closed, the affordable lodging is booked for the dates I needed, and there is a place that sells (and buys?) large quantities of potatoes, but watch out for the guy in charge; he's...

    CF detour to Cañas

Thanks, that sounds interesting! Perhaps another time. I'm talking about the pueblo Cañas about 5km off the Frances from Azofra. There is a monastery there and legend has it that St. Francis of Assisi slept here on his way to Santiago.

    CF detour to Cañas

Hello, I've found some old info in this, but I'm hoping for an updated answer. I'm hoping to make the detour described in Brierly's guide to Canas (between Najera and Santo Domingo dlC) in late May and hopefully find accommodation and food there. I can find no information on Gronze or in the...

Roncesvalles and Mansilla seem to be the bed crunch trouble spots

So as I understand it, starting in early or mid June would not be a problem for getting a bed in Roncesvalles? Thanks.
