    It's interesting to hear about the Camino from a hospitalero's perspective. When I walked the Via Romana from Calzada del Coto to Reliegos 2 years ago I only saw 1 other pilgrim all day. Glad to hear CdlH is getting so many people!

    Fromista albergue fire

    Yes, this was the one next to the train station. I had a beer there before getting on the train at the end of my 2017 Camino. When I returned to Fromista in 2019 to complete my Camino, it was destroyed. It was a cool place for an Albergue!

    Monte de Gozo - statue commemorating visit of pope has been removed

    In July 2019 the monument was in really bad shape. As you can see from the photo it was fenced off and we couldn't even walk up to it. It was a beautiful day and a great view, but I remember seeing the city from up there and being disappointed that the journey was almost over.

    There was even a little snack bar in the park when leaving Villovieco on the river route. I don't think we saw another pilgrim on this route last summer. It seemed more interesting than walking beside the main road.

    After eating a big breakfast at Via Trajana, I can't remember if we decided not to stop at the store or maybe we just never found it. Those Meseta small villages are one of my favorite parts of the Camino!

    Also don't forget to switch the weather app on your phone to Fahrenheit rather than Celsius. I made this mistake and couldn't figure out why it was freezing in the middle of summer.

    Andy, your 80L 55lb rucksack should be sufficient. You won't need to carry much food because there is a Burger King every 3 miles along the Camino!

    Albergue La Casa Magica in Villatuerta has a yoga room. That was the only place I stayed that I noticed an area for it. Some of the cafes have grassy areas that can be used for stretching and yoga.

    Starting in Castrojeriz

    I have not read "The Alchemist", but the same author wrote "The Pilgrimage", which takes place on the Camino. I would also recommend eating at Bar Restaurante El Fuero in Castrojeriz. The food was awesome for such a low price.
