Hi there, you can get a mini umbrella in Lidl for about €5. The base unscrews and you can fit the shaft of it on to the strap of your rucksack. Works well for rain and sun. Tried and tested on Camino Frances April 2018.
Did St Jean to Roncesvalles today. Weather really wet and paths mucky. Tomorrow not to be much better. Never seen as many wet clothes at one time before in an albergue. Roll on some sunshine.
Good thinking Andy. For a while I had planned on taking both. Will need to be carefully not to get cheese on my new corduroy walking slacks and tweed walking jacket.
Hi Andy, I think you might have cracked it. Eat more food put on more weight = carry more stuff. Which do you think would be of more use on the Camino a clothes iron or a toasted sandwich/waffle maker? Good luck with your diet and remember you are what you eat, that's why I look like an Ulster fry.
Last year I purchased a rucksack liner from Mountainware house here in Ireland. Used it to cover the rucksack when flying and as a liner when walking. It did the two jobs perfectly.
