Looks like still rows of bunk beds, but a lot better than it was -- they seem to have reverted to the originally intended number of them, instead of cramming in whichever maximum extra number they could possibly fit in !!
I should be less poor this year than the last few ones (cross fingers !!) -- and I am increasingly leaning towards starting from Salamanca on this surprise intermediary Camino.
Anyway, as none of it will be a Winter Camino this year, and a lot of it will be off the beaten path once I head out...
I have worked out how to organise a new pair of Army boots.
I am going to Paris next month for a Baptism, and there seems to be a Night Train from there to Marseilles -- which is where my boots come from. 😎
Definitely not daily use !!
It's really just to insulate against body temperature loss when I'll sleep outdoors (or on the floor indoors).
I'll not much need it 'til I get back to France, and if it turns out to be rubbish, I'll just get a replacement somewhere. It's good enough to set out...
Just got my new backpack.
It's smaller and lighter than my last one, but I think that's a good thing, as this will not be a winter Camino so I need less stuff.
The Army sleeping bag fits in, and the new inflatable mattress is tiny when uninflated.
Packing the sleeping bag tightly seems to...
My godfather (who is a year younger than I am) is helping me with the new backpack and new inflatable mattress. Hooray !! And he is a brilliant godfather ...
I had my best compañero Anton on the phone yesterday, we were fast on the 2005, happily he seems to have recovered from his heart attack...
My three new credenciales arrived in the post. They seem slim in comparison to the existing monster one that they will embiggen.
But then, the individual pages of a very large credencial do seem to thicken along the Camino, so we'll see !!
Three extra Paris model credenciales to glue into the bloody thing are on their way right now ... o_O 😎 o_Oo_O:p
Interestingly, there will be a myse en abysme whereby my big, bloated credencial will contain another small credencial into which I am likely to glue its own Compostela certificate...
The two ways of "skipping" that section after the rest of the Francès would be to walk from Sarria to either Lugo or Monforte de Lemos -- as walking from either town to Compostela on respectively the Primitivo or the Invierno would qualify you for the Compostela. There's the Invierno from...
Well !!!
I honestly thought that was it, but this morning I have been powerfully called back to the Camino, and a consequence is that I will in fact do Stage 5 of this and walk Home from the Spanish-French border this year.
There will be an intermediary other Camino from I don't know where, to...
