Hello. I'm sure it will be blindingly obvious once I know LOL .... can someone please tell me what the red symbol means (see photo attached)? Thank you
Hi Everyone. I'm here now and in desperate need of some new hiking sandals. I currently have Teva Toachi sandals and am looking for something similar.
Any idea where I could go in Logrono to buy something suitable?
Thanks in advance.
I would like to use the pre-booked accommodations if possible (first few nights).
I never suggested that starting in SJPDP is the "real deal". It is just a really beautiful part of the way, and when I walked in 2018 it was wet and the views were obscured by cloud and fog. I have waited 5 years...
I am planning on getting a Sim card in Pamplona. We fly into Barcelona, have booked train to Pamplona for 2 nights before going to SJPDP to start walking.
We have already pre-booked the first few nights accommodation, including Borda.
Yes, I could choose to forego those bookings and monies...
So, 8 weeks out from the day we leave, I developed Achilles tendonitis. The physio says rest, so Ive lost my final two months training 😏.
At this stage it's all looking a bit questionable, but I'm determined to still give it a go. If I start walking and find the steep incline too painful, am I...
I got caught out a couple of times, needing to pee along the way where there were no facilities or trees for cover. This time I will be taking a she-wee type of device to make those moments a little easier if it happens again.
In 2018 there was a medieval festival in Hospital de Orbigo on the first weekend in June. We flew into Madrid, hired a car and drove there, enjoyed the festivities for two days, drove the car to Pamplona, then got a taxi to SJPDP to start our Camino. We absolutely loved it.
Buen Camino 🙂
Thanks. Yes, good point. I got too focussed on "pre-book now or not" LOL. For Puente la Reina, I'll wait and see how busy it is over those first few days and take it from there. Last time (2018) we usually called ahead and pre-booked at lunchtime each day as we were a group of 4 people then...
My partner and I will be walking the Camino Frances in 2023, starting June 3rd. As we don't want to rush, I will book accommodation for the first few days in advance as I believe we may have trouble getting beds in these sections.
I'm not sure about Puente la Reina though - can accommodation...
Have a wonderful time, whatever you choose.
The walk over the Pyrenees from SJPDP is tough but spectacular and rewarding (just my opinion of course). Perhaps you could start there, and just see how you go. At some point if you think you will be short of time, then get a bus for a few sections...
