Hello. I'm sure it will be blindingly obvious once I know LOL .... can someone please tell me what the red symbol means (see photo attached)? Thank you IMG_20230625_115039.jpg

I never did find a legend for the symbols. I wrote to the developer too, but didn’t hear back. I figured out most of them as I went along, but I don’t know what that is. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

I just turned on my WisePilgrim, and it updated, and i checked those two entries and that symbol is not there for me! But it remains on other places.

@wisepilgrim is usually SUPER-responsive on here!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
@Joanne P
In the Map Legend I can see the same symbol, but in black/grey saying:

Indicates that this town is commonly published in guidebooks as an end-of-stage, often resulting in large numbers of pilgrims. Enjoy them or avoid them as you wish,

but i don't think that would make sense for Moratinos or San Nicolás.

Hi @David Tallan we must be looking at different versions!! ;)

For me the sign (but as I said not red) is coming next in that list under 'Has a train station'!

No, end of stage or train station certainly doesn't make sense for these two towns 😂

That is spooky!.

I have got 5.7.5 for Camino Frances, and no legend listed. As you.

But if I go to the All the Routes version, then I see this, and the version is 1.3.8 "2w ago" But note grey, not red(-dish).

He has said the "All routes" app will not necessarily match the paid route-specific apps because he tries things out there before incorporating them into the route-specific apps.

Interesting that in the Frances app, I see the mystery symbol next to the locations in the overall (Mind/Body/Spirit) list but when I go into the location itself it isn't there.

@wisepilgrim
Do I get a Prize if I’m correct ❓🎁
👉I think what’s going on… is that “the Mystery Symbol” indicates that there are “Links provided”
👉The Mystery Symbol appears to be a LIVE Feature in the Paid App; but not Live on the UNPaid version.
👉Which absolutely makes sense… I “Paid”- I wanna feel like I’m getting something “extra” over the UnPaid App Users.
👉It’s very convenient to have the Live Links….to Book a room reservation for example.
👉Well, 😊😊of course if I have figured out correctly “the meaning of the Mystery Symbol”
🎁🎁🎁Did I @wisepilgrim ❓

So interesting… someone said that earlier too..
I have the Paid App
Here us a screenshot of the same place as yours on the Legend
“After Train stations- but before the Albergues—and I have no such “item listed on my Legend??
Thus is very, very interesting—and “Yes!”- it hit us all engaged on the App—
I will say… I like the Red Highlighted/Important information section..
ie- full up your water before you leave, there won’t be any soon, etc- THAT I fo find very helpful”

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Yikes! My apologies folks, I've been away from the desk for personal reasons and this one escaped me until now. Allow me to elaborate on what that symbol means, since for some reason it appears in the legend of some apps not others.

I added that symbol (the common symbol for section) to illustrate what popular guidebooks tend to consider the end of a predefined stage. It is there to provide a bit of context as to the popularity of a given town. It usually means bottlenecks and lots of pilgrims, and you can join them or avoid them according to your taste.

It only appears for a few routes, as other routes don't have such popularly defined stages.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
A wise man once said "all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players..."
Thanks for asking the question-- the symbol being in weird spots- was totally confusing.. and now I know I might have the opportunity to 'BUNK with Firemen"- very fun!
