Best day of the week to start at SJPdP in May?

At a wild guess - I would say any day with a ‘y’ in it might be suitable.😇 Buen (happy start day) Camino

    Water availability Sarria to Santiago

There are plentiful opportunities to find water from fountains, shops, cafes etc. I can’t remember walking that stretch for more than two hours without coming across a potential drinking water source, including residential and business properties. I guess your water requirements are known to...

Your advice on my itinerary for Camino Frances Sep 2022

Hi again, Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet but presumably you are aware that this is a Holy Year. Traditionally that puts a fair amount of pressure on accommodation over the last 100 kilometres or so.

Your advice on my itinerary for Camino Frances Sep 2022

@Tracile, makes points worth considering for you. If I may, I would like to offer that starting from Pamplona is just as practical, if not easier as from StJPdP for many people, although it’s understandable why you chose to start from StJPdP. Buen (happy start) Camino

Should we expect Albergue rates to go up this year?

Good questions Wandershot,,,,,,, Answers: 1 we don’t know yet. 2. Yes, and God willing, those who can afford it will give more than asked on the day so the albergue will remain open another day for those that follow us. Buen Camino

Hello all. My Camino planning is a bit early haha

Welcome Sirron, At least you have enough time to read the forum at leisure😉 I'd like to offer a couple of thoughts as you start your planning and preparations. With a lengthy time frame to prepare you might want to be alert to overtraining and picking up injuries. Also, it's a big ask of...

What is the app used on the Camino to secure beds?

In addition to the answers already given. Booking.com very often gives you 'free cancellation' up until 24 hours before your actual booking. This give you a little bit of flexibility should you need it. Buen (always- finding a bed) Camino

    Gradient from SJPP to Roncesvalles

Another Scot here Paul. Think Ben Lomond twice. A bit of a thigh burner up to Orisson if you're carrying too much. After that an uncomprising slog up for a while then a knee-jarring thigh burner down again into Roncesvalles. By the way, you may like many others find days 2&3 a wee bit more...

Who might be in Burgos - October 17, 2019?

Seeking advice from multi-camino peregrinos for a mid Oct start

Take a little time to research the Via de la Plata, it may help you decide. Maybe starting on the VdlP from Salamanca, or before then, to Astorga will give you a mix of 'solitary' walking and the already familar Camino Frances when you reach Astorga to walk to SDC again. Buen (good...

    Things to pass the time?

I count my teeth with the tip of my tongue. Sometimes starting with top ones, sometimes starting with the bottom ones, because I'm that type of guy you can't predict. With each passing year and each passing camino, the counting time becomes less and less and I must eat softer and softer food...

    Where to stay

Hi Shiela, Stand by for a barrow-load of replies:D If your husband cycles all the time he should be treated like any other pilgrim at any not-for-profit Albergue, i.e. not a private one. Thousands of people cycle every year and use albergues. If he uses buses there may be a problem using...

    Walking on Diamond-Hard surfaces--Camino Question

Hello Tim & Paula, May I suggest that you go back to your original 6 mile loop for a few more sessions, slow down and see how that feels. It may be that you are both simply walking too fast on a hard surface, carrying too much weight? Buen (no hurty-feet) Camino

Four more days until SdC - and no motivation anymore to continue ...

@sugargypsy, I've no idea what's happening to you but I guess it feels horrible. I wonder if it would help you if you reflect upon what you have achieved so far, both mentally and physically and why you chose to walk a Camino in the first place? After all, I'm sure you didn't get to where...
