The only times I ever experienced people singing aloud together, it ALWAYS happened to be to Queen. It was typically strangers joining in while passing others by. I loved it, especially when it would occur in tunnels where people would let loose to enjoy the acoustics!
I did the same! I focused on singing a song. I don't even mind heights but I was less than thrilled with the high winds keeping me from walking a straight line on the bridge! I ended up standing at bottom of the stairs for a bit with a bunch of other pilgrims. No one really seemed ready to start...
I'm just throwing in another vote for starting in Pamplona. We did SJPP to Santiago in a month but we took rest/healing days after I took a tumble down some stairs. You never know when you may end up needing one of those days. We absolutely loved Pamplona, and the walk heading out of town is...
The descent after Cruz de Ferro was really tough. The heat wave last month didn't help either. I finished the day with a good amount of Arnica cream, paracetamol...and sangria!
I finished around two weeks ago, and indeed it was busy. I didn't pre-book anything though except for Santiago (and even that changed last second because of an issue with the hostel upon arrival). I only found two albergues to be full my entire Camino, and both were in the same town; a very...
I finished the Camino Frances just over a week ago. I was worried about getting two stamps a day once I reached Sarria, so I started getting them at every bar, church, and albergue I stopped in. I quickly realized that was far too many stamps and only did the two a day. When I got the final...
Another vote for ALSA bus. I used them several times on my Camino the last few weeks. It was always easy to buy tickets from their website and just hop on.
Buen Camino!
You aren't kidding! It was raining last month when I started my Camino. I would've given anything for rain on the Meseta recently in the 45C heat.
As has already been said, the pilgrims office in SJPP is a huge help.
Buen Camino!
Some of us don't get that choice. I can't get travel insurance and I'm on the Camino Frances right now.
That said, of course I still recommend it to others.
Honestly I have no idea about taxi availability at that time of night. I just left Ponferrada yesterday via train. Honestly I may err on the side of caution simply because of the career fields of my household, which leave us skeptical. All I can say is to trust your judgment. If you opt to walk...
I'd probably arrange a taxi. I'm in Ponferrada right now actually. I took a taxi today and the driver, Luis, was really nice and enjoyed pointing out interesting things we went by. If you don't have a taxi contact, his number is 34 671 70 80 70.
Buen Camino!
