Anyone planning to walk the Camino in May 2019

It is secretly all about the food

SJPDP to Roncesvalles. Stop in Valcarlos? Or go the Napoleon Route?

I wouldn't stay at Roncesvalle again either. Burguete was far nicer and only a few more kms to wander.

Who is walking the Camino in April 2019?

I will be starting from St Jean on Good Friday April 19th for the 4th time. 1st walk i got to Belorado, 2nd was Sahagun, 3rd was Logrono then had to go back to work each time. This year i'm going the whole way, at my pace, with no deadlines. Crossing the Pyrenees for the 4th time!

Planning my fourth attempt at the Frances

I'm not looking for one! Just been offered an olive picking job in Italy in October though which slots in perfectly...not walking to Italy, I'll fly :)

Planning my fourth attempt at the Frances

I'll get the train back to the 'start' and crack straight on if my legs allow it.

Anyone planning to walk the Camino in May 2019

I'm starting April 21st from St Jean. Slow and steady with no time limit so i'll probably see you pass me :)

    River route into Burgos (PDF)

I wish i'd known the river route. The industrial route was the most depressing part of my Camino. It went on forever!

Planning my fourth attempt at the Frances

I've walked the first half of the Frances 3 times but always had to cut it short due to work commitments. Then last October i was told i would be laid off from work at the end of 2018. I sold all my stuff, became a minimalist and have spent a year in the gym gaining muscle and losing 15 kilos of...

If We Decide to Come Home . . .

I recently got the train from Sahagun (near Leon) to Bilbao and flew to Stanstead for £25. No hassles at all. Bilbao does some silly cheap midweek flights.

    Where are the pilgrims?

I just spent 7 days walking from St Jean to Logrono from the 12th July. Roncesvalles was barely half full, (they have reduced the beds to 187 but strictly pilgrims only, no tourists!) Only 10 people turned up for the pilgrim meal. I met no-one and walked alone between Zubiri and Estella and i...

    is Express Bourricot still operating?

Thanks everyone. Fault was with my email system. all sorted. Buen Camino :)

    is Express Bourricot still operating?

Hmmm? I'll do the old fashioned method and phone them.

    is Express Bourricot still operating?

I have sent 3 emails since May and i fly out next week. It'll all work out but the silence is deafening :)

    is Express Bourricot still operating?

I may be doing something wrong but i can't get any response from Express Bourricot. Used them twice before to get from Biarritz airport to SJPDP but now i am getting no response from there passenger request form or their email. Anyone else had problems?

    St Jean to Roncesvalles

Ahh..I was referring to the boiled chicken and chips with the banana Yoghurt at the 2 pilgrim meal taverns

    St Jean to Roncesvalles

I'm 45, fit-ish and walk lots. I left St Jean at 8am on Easter Friday via Orisson and arrived at Roncesvalles about 2.30. There were plenty of beds and i had no need to book ahead. It was almost full by 4pm due to a coach load of students turning up, but they still provided extra mattresses for...

The oddest thing I have seen while walking the Camino

A lot of the movie The Good the Bad and the Ugly was filmed around Burgos. My favourite film.

The Meseta -to walk or bus!

Loved the Meseta. I walked it at Easter and going back in July to walk it again. Burgos to Leon is awesome.

If the Camino Frances stays crazy...

I walked St Jean to Leon leaving on Easter Friday morning. Out at 7am-ish daily, finishing walking between 2-4pm. Always stayed one town ahead of the printed guide and had no trouble finding a bed. Don't jump into the first place you see (like everyone else does and the guide books want you to)...

    Backpack Etiquette

My biggest bugbear was the selfishness of folk with plug sockets. Fair enough, first in first use, but you don't need to charge your phone or tablet for 3-6 hours. There are only so many sockets to go around! Quite often i'd have to do a 1hr stealth charge in the middle of the night. I'm...
