Looks like now the heating and the hot water works by gas.
My best wishes to you for your stay in Arres. I served there five years ago, and it was wonderful.

Well friends, there I go again. This time I´ll be serving from 1st to 15th of March in the lovely Municipal Albergue ( Donativo) of Villadangos del Paramo, 20 kilometers after Leon.
Never been there before but my Hospitalero mates of HOSVOL said it´s a good place to serve, and GRONCE...
San Juan Bautista in Grañon is open 24/7. Since its opening 27 years ago it had been always that way, except when suffered a bed bug infestation many years ago and due COVID restriction measures.
That was not the fault of anybody, you dind´t know I live in Zaragoza, nor I knew you were passing by.
My time like hospi was, as always, invigorating and exhausting, because the double task of cleaning, exhaustively desinfect the facilities etc.
Fortunetely I have had a bunch of good...
I remember that day. Your message "sounds" like you where mad, fighting those creepy bugs. But I´ll have my revenge, next time we´ll meet , double round of beberages will be taken.
Buen Camino Laurie.
Are you telling you were at Zaragoza five days ago, and didn´t contacted me? I just arrived from Grañon that day, and would be a real pleasure for me to share one or two glasses of red, guide you in MY city, etc.
I´m really sad and angry now knowing whe could share a good talk and many other...
Hey , palmah, nice to talk to you again. Long time since our last meeting, that cold day of that cold winter in that cold albergue. Only the hugs both of you gave me where warm that day.
Luckily Grañon is much more friendly and I could welcome the pilgrims the way we have learn to love.
For...
Hi, mates. That stove was alredy working two years ago, during my last time of volunteriing there.
The good new it´s that the main air heater is brand new. Now we can efficiently heat the main hall in a few minutes without believing that we were inside a helicopter.
That allows to ventilate and...

You can find similar ones in Parish albergues of:
Viana, Logroño (Santiago el Real), Bercianos del Real Camino, Burgo Ranero (Domenico Lafti), Foncebadon (Domus Dei)
The spirit you can find in those and other albergues depends mainly of the volunteers that are working there, sometimes it can...
Just returned from an eight days Camino on the Francés.
Many albergues were closed but some are opening its doors for high season.
The prices are a little bit higher, but it could be because we choose some hostels and private acomodations, due the lack of traditional albergues in some stages...
I would like to have a bed in that "resort" the last Holy Year, the time I slept on the floor of an Army Tent due the lack of any other accomodation twenty kilometers around Santiago.
I think it could be a good idea to wait some years until you have settled down. Then wait some more years until you have your own family. Then wait some years until the kids dont need you.
Then, thats the moment to hurry up, just before your grandchildren miss their grandmother and after you...
Hello, friends.

The reason there are not cooking equipment in many of the Xunta´s Albergues are mainly because the employees of those albergues (formerly Xunta´s employees, nowadays workers of the tenants companies) became tired of daily washing and cleaning the dirty kitchenware, left by certain "Piggrims"...
Easy thing. The big one in Ponferrada was built with the donation of a very rich lady who was born in this town. She married a Swiss man, and went to live to Geneva; having no childrens, and being really wealthy and very religious people, they left much of their heritage for charity.
This is...
No Municipal or Associated Albergues are financed by Asociations, Goverments or any kind of "official institutions". They are financied by the aportations pilgrims give. They are the owners of the building, but they usually don´t afford one single euro for paying the expenses, manteinance...
