If you had to choose to skip a part of the route. What would be your choice?

I would skip (by bus or by taxi) all the outskirts, suburbs, and industrial areas of bigger cities. And would cycle the Meseta between Burgos and Leon.

    Camino Irritants

I agree with those who say you need therapist if other people existing, walking, being happy irritates you so much. General you.

    Valcarlos route or Napoleon Route

Valcarlos is nice. Napoleon is breath taking wonderful. If it's open go for it. Why take less if there's more? I did, started from Orrison, not the greatest physical form but I did it. It's difficult but very much doable. Was the highlight of the whole Camino.

Peregrina rescued by bomberos near Roncesvalles

Rescue is rescue even if stupidity is the reason it was needed. Unless it becomes a tik tok trend. Police chases of criminals on the other hand should be for fee only: want to run - pay for man hours, dog hours, car wear and tear, helicopter flight, fuel, etc.

Very impressive walk for a peregrino but I wonder if his companion thought it was a good idea

To be fair the descent to Zubiri is one of the most difficult on the whole CF even for humans but equines are very bad at going downhill. And this road to Zubiri is all down for most of the day. Ad up and down over Pyrenees the previous days. No wonder the donkey rebelled.

LIVE from the Camino Animal tracks in snow - can someone identify?

Checked with a certified hunter: dog prints. Wolf has 2 leading toes, foot narrow. Dog feet are wider.

    Northern lights!

I'm so jealous now. I live much farther North in Europe and have never seen them although they are known to dance around where I live too.

Is my daily average goal too ambitious?

Speaking about cycling: it's a good idea to rent a bicycle for the meseta - flat open plains between Burgos and Leon.

    The bad knee club

That's a perfect idea! Hopefully after the surgeon has done their magic you can run like a spring lamb again. I can with my brand new hip.

    Be prepared... pilgrim rescue

Ad to the list those who want to experience true medieval pilgrimage therefore leave their mobile phones at home and actively encourage others to do the same. Still they don't want to die en route like so many medieval pilgrims did. So on a question what would they do in an emergency out in...

    Be prepared... pilgrim rescue

That red Land Rover is always sitting near Izandorre ready to act.

Anyone taken a horse on the Camino?

The horse wasn't ok to switch places? what about an extra carrot?

Anyone taken a horse on the Camino?

I did have my own horses in one period of my life so I have some idea what a horse can and be willing to do. There are very steep descents on the Camino where no horse will be happy to go, especially if they are kilometres long. Repeat it for days and days. Just no. You will have to go around on...

    Leaving dog home question

    :D They are Irish terriers!

    Leaving dog home question

For the Camino I did leave my 2 dogs with my daughter (and her husband and dog) in another country. Just a bit of extra travel but nothing compared with Camino. Dogs were fine, they all 3 had lived together already. But for other travels I always take the dogs with me. They like it. True I also...

    Lets Build an Albergue!

Ideal would be a parador on auberge budget ;). But the desirable qualities that were actually in real auberges, so I assume they are feasible: Own or in the village: little historical church where services actually take place, little shop with basic stuff, Communal area inside and in the...

Any wild life safety concerns on the French Way??

Given the puzzle pieces "pilgrim", "wildlife", "danger" the ready sentence reads: "Pilgrim shouldn't endanger wildlife". There's definitely also Rubia Gallega breed of cattle. Seemed tame enough, mentioned it just for your info.

    I may be crazy....

The smart taxis have their phone numbers on the seats along the way. Exactly where the tired pilgrims will want them and find them.
  19. SeaHorse

From which country this pilgrim is from?

Nah. Still easier to ask than remember all this and have only x % chance because they bought their equipment on the internet.

Do they speak English ? Clues ? ?

Caastellano was no problem, they see you are foreigner already from afar anyway.
