My wife and I had only been walking 2 hours when we came across Estella. A fellow pilgrim told us it had a great chocolate shop. So that was it - we went into the village and decided to book a room for the night and have the rest of the day off. A market was in full swing in the village square...
The only advice I would give is to wear Arma Skin socks - these are latex type under socks that go on before your normal socks. My wife and I did the Frances Camino from SJDP to Finisterre without a blister - they are anti blister socks, comfortable and highly recommended to save the wear and...
Wonderful, thankyou!
We're looking to go from Lisbon and were thinking of also doing the inland route that you did.
My wife and I are lousy on languages so any problem with English? Also good to hear the alternative accommodation to the alberques is excellent.
Another question - did you use a...
Anamya, can I ask which route you took on the Portuguese camino? I have also done the Frances and would be interested in your comments on the differences (topography, road/track surfaces, accommodation etc) Thankyou
Konnie, go for it!! My wife and I did the Frances then through to Finnisterre anti-clockwise last year (aged 69 and 68). Loved it. Met two gentlemen both aged 82 doing the Frances and they were having a ball. Don't wait!!....don't have regrets!
Michelle, I can also recommend ArmaSkin socks https://www.armaskin.com/. My wife and I recently completed Camino Francis then on to Finisterre, a total trek of 915 kms. Not one blister!! The Armaskin socks are worn under the second pair of socks and are guaranteed to give no blisters. No need...
Thankyou every one for your advice and insights!..........we're counting down the days when we can have the Camino experience and to reflect on the life of our daughter.
Based on feedback we've booked at Luzaide Albergue.
My wife and I are commencing the Camino Frances on 31 August. This is a pilgrimage I'm memory of our young daughter (44) who passed away earlier this year due to cancer. She left two young children. Our pilgrimage is one of reflection and thanksgiving so we will do the Volcaros route over the...
My wife and I (we're in the late 60's) are planning on walking the Camino de Frances in September.
Current plan is to spend a few days in Paris then take a train down to St Jean
I understand there are direct trains to St Jean- could you give me some advice on this train journey as our objective...
