On our first camino in 2013, I felt that we were mainly walking far away from main roads. On arrival in Villamayor de Monjardin, we got the key to the "castle" and then walked up the hill behind the village. It was a revelation, seeing the land spread out before us, as in an aeroplane. The...
We stayed in Pensión Mavi on our final camino in 2019. (John's 80th birthday) Basic but comfortable and friendly. Just what we needed after the trek from Azqueta (Perla Negra). The restaurant Mavi was also good value and pleasant.
We took the road in 2014, after our experience the previous year. A short distance down from the Alto, there's a big picnic spot with spectacular views. We stopped there ("second breakfast") for a while and can see that we left there at 10. Got to Uterga at 11.30. Not fast walkers. Went down the...

We've sailed Portsmouth to Santander and also back a few times. I remember it being around 24 hours. Agree re bus into Burgos and out to Virgen del Camino from outskirts León
Sorry, no recent info, but we detoured from Azofra to Cañas in 2014. Stayed in the Casona de Cañas and visited the Abadía after 5pm. We then walked on quiet roads the next day to rejoin the CF at Ciruena

My husband was 74 when we walked from Roncesvalles to Santiago, taking around 6 weeks. We've been back 4 times since then, exploring routes off the "main" CF as well as walking the Baztan. We walked (probably) our last short Camino this May, when my husband was 80. That time we chose our...
Find a physio in Astorga who will diagnose and then likely provide you with a therapeutic massage. Movement, especially walking, is usually best for back strains, but get yourself a specialist opinion. There's a "centro de salud" in Astorga should that be advised.
