    Cowboy Bar

I remember it from 2004 on first Camino. Friendly and just yards away from albergue which was part of a schoolroom. Times have changed since then. Buen Camino Samarkand.

What parts of the CF are too rough for a 2 wheel hiking trailer?

When in doubt I would push trailer down hill rather than pull it. It helps if you have a braking system on your trolley but either way be careful on blind bends and use your common sense on what side of the road to be on! Best of luck and Buen Camino ! Samarkand.

Cruz de Ferro - What is its history, and what happens to all those stones?

I like it ! Can you pre~book? Samarkand.

    Hydration pack or water bottles?

You can share with others simply by squirting some into a cup/mug or whatever! I likewise carry 2l on Meseta. Samarkand.

    Hydration pack or water bottles?

Its never been the " fillabilty " as an issue with me and bladders. I use them for the ease of " water on the go " of which principle I am a devoted adherent. Each to his own no doubt :) Stay safe. Samarkand.

    Ashes on the Frances

I would like mine to go in the ocean at Finisterre and have my love simply say : " Buen Camino " . Samarkand.

    Cruz de Ferro Decorum

I love it! I tried explaining this to fellow pilgies years ago and was met with disbelief, hostility and accusations of heresy! I , of course, have my own little spot, quite unseen , where I hang me own relics, symbols and luck charms :) Samarkand.

Has the Camino Frances become a victim of its own success?

A cursory look at a map shows S.W FRANCE as Pays Basque and over the current border it is shown as Pais Basco. Shouldn't we show some respect to these proud and independent people who consider themselves neither French or Spanish ? Perhaps the Basque route might raise a few hackles amongst...

Has the Camino Frances become a victim of its own success?

I have been unable to find an entry point for this discussion. Why? Because when I started in 2003 I was walking the Camino de Santiago. That wretched appellation Camino Frances came later. I still walk even in my mind, The Camino de Santiago . Samarkand.

Leaving mementos of loved ones in the CF

Your heart will tell you where the place of significance is. It doesn't have to be the Cruz de Ferro. God speed and Buen Camino Samarkand.

    Guidebook: redundant or useful?

To all the pro -tech mob, I have never used Gronze or Kindle. Books are at home on bookshelves to be taken down and read at leisure any time. Besides which, you cant get apps on the bookshelf! Nowadays as a kick starter I will look at the book FIRST and then check the apps on my phone. I...

Snow conditions on Route Napoleon for Camino Frances in April

At 85 I care not for marathons OR sprints and never have done :) One foot past the other is good enuff for me and I am always very polite to snails passing me by! God willing me and my love dove are off on the 2nd of May. Beginning places booked as is end game of Finisterre and flight home...

How steep is the climb to Alto de Perdon.

Are there tuk- tuks and yaks available for the over 80's ? Samarkand :)

    What the fanega!

And there was me thinking a fanega was a sort of version of the fandango, a dance I am unreliably reported on as being the result of being bit on the arse by a chigger! What literary wonders lie as yet to be discovered on this forum! :) Samarkand

Finding Accommodation in SJPP without Communal Meals or Public Speaking

I sympathise as I have never really understood the necessity. Perhaps being 65 when I first started Camino 2003 didn't endear me to the system. I have met many wonderful people on Camino whom I have known for as little as 4 hours but never forgot. We never formed groups or exchanged addresses...

Backpacks only policy in Albergues: A common restriction?

This says it all for me.. I am still recovering from a bad fall pre-xmas. I will be using what I can, when I can, where I can. Private accommodation most of the time so me and my love dove ( AH !) at 69 and 84 WONT be using any place with restrictions as neither of us is getting any...

Peregrina in wheelchair robbed near Melide

I had a really bad fall a couple of weeks ago. I live two floors up and NO lift. The kindness of some friends and neighbours has been overwhelming. It took me 7hours by train to get to Blackpool and Dot . The passenger assistance service was superb and without them I would never have made...

    Peregrino vegetal is dismantled

Dear God, I thought VEGETALS WERE WHAT YOU PUT IN YOUR SOUP :) Methinks me and this century were not made for each other ! Samarkand.

    Bed bug alert!

Ye gods! Is nothing sacred ? Samarkand
