Hey Tim. I did my first camino in 2016 and only encountered 1 family with kids and they had a blast.
We walk quite a bit in the UK and he’ll be ready I’m sure although day 1 from SJPP may be tough. We’re gonna stop over at Orisson as I love it there then roncesvalles.
I’ve done lots of Caminos and normally go every year but for 2023 I’m taking my 9 yr old and we’re doing SJPP to Pamplona as an h trip for him. Taking it slow which will be a challenge for me and just looking forward to being with him on the trail.
Has anyone else walked with a young child ...
Hi. I’ve just got back from SJPP to Burgos. Didn’t take a sleeping bag and everywhere had blankets which we actually didn’t need. Also loads of rooms on each day and didn’t encounter any bed race at all.
Hey Tony
It’s not as busy as I though it would be. Orisson wasn’t full and we pushed past roncesvalles today to Espinol and the albergue is less than half full.
I led this morning from my front door in the UK. Got a few hours walk to the train station and then flying to Paris later today and onwards to Biarittz.
Back on the French way tomorrow 🙏 literally cannot wait. Will be posting as I walk and updating my blog with updates on cafes, bars...
my fault for not reading the whole thread. each to their own is the best way. mine is a simple one but understand everyone has their own camino. Buen Camino
