hmmm....I wonder he made the same mistake that I did? although the path that I took was marked with white and green markers there were plenty of off shoot paths that could have been also taken.
Having done the Napoleon route in 2016 and the Valcarlos route in 2017 with no problems I thought I'd do the Valcarlos again last year but this time I got very lost. Once I got home I checked with the help of Google Earth / Street view to see exactly where I went wrong so this posting maybe of...
You may already know this......As you walk out of Burgos you walk parallel to a long concrete wall on your left, if you go to to the other side of the wall you will be in a park walking on a gravel path. This is the path with the iron gates at the end that the pilgrims in the movie "The Way"...
Hi Vaughan, I always take shoes/boots and sock off whenever I rest..maybe every 1-1/2 hours of walking, it gives a chance for the feet to dry a bit and I change socks then too.
Hi Elisha, I walked last year part of the way with a young guy who developed really sore knees....he bought himself some walking poles on day 3 and took painkillers for a couple of days and ended up making it all the way. I have done it twice now and off to do the Le Puy route in a few weeks...
A group of friends I was walking with last year decided to take the horses up the hill....the horses turned up 2 hours later than the expected time so this put their plans out a bit, so just be aware that everything happens in Camino time not yours!

I have just arrived in Samos after walking from Tricastela. I strongly suggest not to take this route until the fires have stopped. At one stage I had actual flames on both sides of the track well within arms reach. There are no fire fighters about as it seems they are fighting other fires. I...
We stayed in Boadillia del Camino which is the town before Fromista last night in the last Albergue as you leave the town Albergue Titas and there were only 5 of us in a 12 bed Albergue so lots of spare beds there last night.
Plus we had an excellent pilgrims meal at the Albergue. The...
Hi Jill, it's Sunday 10th 3.30pm and I arrived at the Valcarlos municipal at 11.30 this morning and I was the only one here for a couple of hours but now I think there is only 1 or 2 beds left, there are 23?beds in total. SJPDP was very full last night with about 30 pilgrims sleeping on the...

....I see that if you died on the Camino in the middle ages you by passed purgatory.......I don't know if the church still teaches the existence of purgatory or not....but that has to be the silver cloud of dying whilst on pilgrimage.....as if such a place does existence I'm sure the waiting...
....last year I took my tablet, never turned it on as I could do everything on my phone. I'm leaving it at home this time. As long as hubby carries it let him take what he wants Jo!
