I was wondering or rather surprised why this thread is still active. After a couple of great advices to the beginning!
All you need for your Camino is already in you!!! Not more not less!
put your nose in the wind and experience your own Camino! :)
but nevertheless there will be pain :) cause it is hard to pretend walking a Camino every day at home! ;)

once I started my first Camino (3100km) without much training, 60 pounds overweight plus 30 pounds backpack.
I walked the first weeks not more than 25km and had a rest day. I had much pain all over the place but I arrived at the ocean and lost my 60 pounds overweight!
Just take it...
just do it! You also could visit a Albergue and ask some pilgrims to go out together.....or just look for people with tanned lines/ flip flops or sandals and join them...:)
@Sandy1, if you wanna sleep with other people in one room than you have to deal with ALL side effects! Also it's quite harsh to assume snorers would do it deliberately!
You can't stand snoring people? Your earplugs are not working? Then may you should stay private?! I wouldn't go so far and...
I'm walking since 2010 on different ways in different seasons, short (100km) and longer (3100km) distances. I roughly slept in 450 Albergues/Gites/Pensions etc.. I personally never booked ahead, on purpose.
1st. I never know how the day will be physically.
2nd. I never know what the day...
Hola, i walked the alternative "Dragonte" in 2016, after we got lost short after the first climb, we walked together and had a super exhausting day but what a beautiful scenery, stunning nature. I think we came down to Las Herrerias...highly recommended only with experiences and enough food!

@ Gilberto del Camino, we shouldn't make anyone to be aware what to expect on anything! No expectations keep your mind free......once i walked from my hometown to Santiago in a "pre Smartphone age" with hardly any knowledge...
