Seeking full stage itinerary from SJPP to Finisterre

Funny, I never considered 20-25km days to be short. That’s like walking a half marathon a day.

    rookie seeking advice please

You’d have to average 30km/day. I’m sure it’s been done, but that’s a lot. For normal walkers, 20km/day is a more realistic target.

When do most pilgrims feel like quitting the Camino de Santiago?

I never wanted to quit. I loved the walking and the humanity. Rest days were hard for me. I just wanted to be walking.

    Pyrenees difficulty

First, I would like to encourage you to walk the stretch from SJPDP to Roncesvalles. The views are drop-dead gorgeous. As far as difficulty goes, we can only report on how difficult it was for us. We can't know whether you are up to it. But you say you are reasonably fit. I think a reasonably...

How Important Was It To You To Do "Full" CF ?

It was important for me to walk the entire Camino Frances. I didn't want to miss a single step. My Dad had died shortly before my Camino. Walking allowed me to process my feelings for a man I loved dearly. When I walk again, God willing, I will again walk the entire Camino Frances. I don't know...

LIVE from the Camino Ethics Question -- to walk or not to walk?

Good advice. The blister problem isn't going to just go away. You'll be faced with the same decision every stop along the way if you don't get it sorted now.

Spend a day in SJPP, or just start the walk?

I still managed to meet some pretty great people! ;-)

Spend a day in SJPP, or just start the walk?

I got in to SJPDP late in the evening and started walking the next morning. Next time I will get in earlier and spend a day there before setting out.

Looking for accommodation recommendations in Leon

The Hostal Albany is very nice and right in the city center.

LIVE from the Camino Arrived in Leon this afternoon

That Day Room tip is one I’ll remember. What a great idea. I didn’t know these existed.

LIVE from the Camino Starting my SJPP volunteer gig tomorrow

I didn’t know this was a thing. Do you have to speak French? I see you are from Mass.

Rest days on the Camino Frances?

I originally planned one rest day a week. I didn’t use anywhere near that number.

Rest days on the Camino Frances?

We took a rest day in Burgos and Leon. To be honest, I had to force myself to stop walking for a day. I wanted nothing more than to keep walking. But it was good for me to take a break.

    Camino legs

I have no idea, but I wish you Godspeed and a buen Camino. You are an inspiration.

Seasoned walkers and hikers - should you walk the Frances?

Buen Camino. I never tired of hearing It.

Remote working from the Camino Frances

I suggest you bag this idea and save your Camino for when you can truly get away. I don’t see how you’re going to walk 12 miles a day after having been up from 3 to 9. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

    St. Jean to Burgos

When I walked the CF in the fall of 2015 I did the SJPDP to Burgos section in 11 days. I was not speed walking. I walked my pace. I first met the pilgrims who were to become lifelong friends on this stretch of my Camino. I wish you a buen Camino!

Thinking of walking Camino Frances in summer 2021... in need of advice

I haven’t read any of the responses, but I’m guessing many will echo what I’ve got to say. Do it now! I think life transitions are a great time to walk the Camino.

    Blanket clarity

I agree completely. I found it comforting to know that when I went to bed I’d be snuggling into my own sleeping bag. Some of the blankets could definitely have used a good washing.
