I’ve eaten a couple of times in La Bogadera. They are a non-touristy place, not that there are any tourists in La Robla, but the service can be kind of indifferent to outsiders. Food is good.

At this time of year, I don’t think there will be a lot of pilgrims walking the Salvador. I have walked this route three or four times alone and have never had a problem with safety. Even at “peak times” in August, you are not likely to see...

I don’t mean to be rude here, but these questions are un-answerable unless we know whether you “run hot” or “run cold,” and unless you know whether I “run hot” or “run cold” when I give you my opinion. For instance, I disagree with what my buddy...

Hi. Just saw your post. Same as Peregrino 2000 I'd also suggest Trail runners, shoes. I wore my Assics gel for the Salvador in August and despite the heat no blisters and feet fine. No need for boots. Daniel

You paint a lovely picture. I can totally agree about the signposting and most of the infrastructure. You missed a wonderful stop by missing Benduenos by the way. Also, Pajares was a gift. I feel divided about posting my piece. Why? Because...

I'm just back from the Camino del Salvador and will give a small report of my journey. I decided to do it in five stages and stay in private accommodation. My first stage was Leon to La Robla. I followed the river path all the way to Carbajal...

Thank you all for the help and advice. Unfortunately it looks like my Salvador will be delayed or cancelled. Currently holed up in a hotel in Leon with fever, tonsillitis and no voice. We‘ll see what happens over the next few days or if we just...

Santa Cristina de Lena looks wonderful - thanks for the tip! Our plans are pretty fluid so hopefully we manage a detour to visit it.

"We" are also starting from Leon on Thurs! and staying in Cabanillas... then Buiza. The Sun is not shining at the moment and the Temps are set to drop very low. Looking forward so much to this Camino which includes the Primitivo. I'm hoping to...
