we walked the Coastal route from Porto...it was magnificent...yes, very different than the Frances, flatter, quieter. Let us know how you are greeted by the locals under the circumstances. Be safe and many blessings!
we walked the coastal last June and LOVED it! Some mild ups and downs but the views were awesome and we live in San Francisco. Yes, fewer people and amenities but good planning resolves all of that. The people and food was amazing! Natas are a must!

just returned from the Camino Portuguese Coastal...trail runners are fine, but the cobbles do beat up your feet, evening soak them and give them a good massage and you will be fine!
we just finished the Portuguese Coastal, and found that "book" distances (we had 2), app distances, and our fitbit and the reality never matched. Sometimes they widely varied. Walking the Central you will have town and amenities closer than on the Coast. Just enjoy the walk it will be awesome.
