Hostels evt. between Tui and O Porriño

Hotel Alfonso I, slightly off the Camino (but easy to get back on to it). It's about 4 kms outside Tui.

    Food Etiquette on the Caminho/Camino

Just LOOKING at that lot is enough to have me running for the toilet!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, but . . . . .

    Food Etiquette on the Caminho/Camino

Here's a thought! We should contact Adam Richman (Man Vs. Food) and invite him to walk a couple of the stages of the Camino del Norte. We could then sit him down in a restaurant in Áviles and get him to attempt to devour a whole pot (say 4 kilos) of Pote Asturiano or Fabada Asturiana in an...

    Food Etiquette on the Caminho/Camino

This thread is a classic! Forgetting personal preferences and some of our own prejudices about different cuisines, it's interesting to see what people think is good food. I'm sure that food in the USA is not only what we witness on programmes like Man Versus Food!!!! At least I hope not...

    Food Etiquette on the Caminho/Camino

I doubt that very much. I've lived here for 29 years and can assure you that 99.9% of Spaniards would have no qualms about what we are attempting to say about the marvellous and varied cuisine available in this vast country.

    Food Etiquette on the Caminho/Camino

I don't see anything to object to. All Albertinho was saying (and I wholeheartedly agree with him) is that Spanish food is straightforward, simple fare, and doesn't need to be smothered in ketchup, tabasco or other spicy sauces; otherwise, it would lose the flavour.

    Food Etiquette on the Caminho/Camino

Well said, Albertinho!!!!!! My thoughts exactly.

    Places to Stay in Redondela

We stopped in the Hotel Casa Anton, on the main road after climbing out of Redondela and joining the main road by the Pebsión Jumboli. Great place and great people: they came to pick us up and drove us there, and the next morning they will drive you back so you don't do any 'cheating'!!!!!! And...

    Caminho Portuges de o Salnés

We saw the detour for this a few kilometres north of Pontevedra. A MUST for my next Camino Portugués!

    Redondela to Pontevdra: Alternative Route?

Going back to the original title of this thread, here are a couple of photos of this alternative route for the last few kilometres into Pontevedra. It avoids three kilometres or so of road walking and is a beautiful winding path along the river. Turn left at waypost 68.5 (you might want to walk...

    Green alternative to industrial Porrino..

Here are a couple of photos I took. This alternative route is a MUST! And it's so easy to follow, once you've ignored the attempts to paint out the arrows in Orbenlle.

    Green alternative to industrial Porrino..

Just finished this route and I have to say that it is MARVELLOUS, and easy to follow. I've walked through that industrial estate twice previously, but NEVER again!

    Redondela to Pontevdra: Alternative Route?

I seem to remember having the same problem with the dry inkpad last year, but I breathed heavily on it and got a fairly legible stamp! The problem with having a beer at this kiosk is very enticing, but I'm walking with my wife and she'll probably complain if it's too early. Having said that...

    Redondela to Pontevdra: Alternative Route?

Thanks! I'll post on here next Sunday after walking along this river route.

    Redondela to Pontevdra: Alternative Route?

I know the area really well from many trips up there, and have driven along the coast road (all the way to O Grove and La Toja), up into the hills around Ribadumia, down to Cambados and Arousa (Vilanova, Vilagarcia and across the bridge to the fantastic Illa de Arousa), but the route has an...

    Redondela to Pontevdra: Alternative Route?

Albertinho, do you think we should create a new thread for this route? Fantastic information here, with maps: http://dospedalesmilcaminos.blogspot.com.es/2012/06/peregrinacion-santiago-el-camino-de.html#more

    Redondela to Pontevdra: Alternative Route?

As I'll be doing the Portugués (again!) in a few days' time, I'll see what information I can find. I'll also take photos of where the O Salnés route leaves the Camino. Check out this video, which shows just how beautiful this route is (in Spanish, but the scenery speaks for itself)...

    Redondela to Pontevdra: Alternative Route?

Albertinho: This detour is south of Pontevedra (the last few kilometres). La Ruta do Salnés starts in Pontevedra and actually follows the normal Camino Portugués for a few kilometres after crossing the Puente de O Burgo, before heading westwards towards Poio. It looks like a really nice...

    Redondela to Pontevdra: Alternative Route?

Here's a photo I took of the Capilla de Santa Marta (where the detour starts) last year. You can stamp your own credencial inside the chapel.
