Earlier this year I downloaded the app 'maps.me' for my Madrid/Salvador/Primitivo Combo.
Not only does it show where you are in relation to the Camino, it also shows local tracks which enabled me to take shortcuts or excursions to see other features not on the camino track.
Believe me, I am an...
Any advice on what might catch us out would be great though.
I had a wonderful walk from Lisbon to Santiago in May 2017 - flatter than many other Caminos, but OMG the cobblestones are a killer if you are wearing zero-drop shoes (Altra Lone Peak 3.5). If ever I repeated the journey then I'd...
I stayed in Lisbon for a couple of days end of May 2017.
Found the room on Airbnb, (most useful when Albergues were not available in Portugal).
I did not keep details but stayed in Alfama a couple of streets up from the Apolina Rail Station.
Great landlady called Fatima, the room was clean &...
Thanks for posting this link. The photo's are some of the best I've seen of the Frances and the 10 minute video of Lee's presentation is very inspiring (I'm cleaning my paintbrushes as I post) :D
I used the Metro to get out of Lisboa in June - but that was to escape a mad Priest and his accompanying Handmaiden (but that's another story)
When I go again I will walk the whole way - but be a bit easier with myself on the mileage, particularly on day one!
Here's a pic of the first...
Although I walked from Lisbon in June this year, I can confirm each Albergue had a ready supply of blankets. Most nights I only used my liner.

Welcome to the forum Ms Village.
I completed the Lisbon to Santiago Camino in June and found the signage pretty good.
There are certain days where you'll need to be fully awake as the yellow arrows stop and you need to follow electric pylons between villages. However the latest Breirley Guide...
Thanks SEB, I've noted Casa Fernanda on my Brierley and look forward to the 'Fire Water Challenge'. :D
I have given great thought to your comments regarding Albarino. Now the background to this is that my personality changes depending on the colour of liquid I imbibe. When drinking Red Wine I...
Totally with you on this SEB, but it is a pure medical requirement for me to drink Rioja :D
I'm kicking off from Lisbon on 2 June, which reds are worth targeting to break my dependence?
It can be an anti-climax Jinwoo.
I always find that a trip to the restaurant at the corner of the Cathedral steps and ask for a glass of Rioja and a slab of Santiago cake always improves the experience immeasurably.
Congratulations on your dual camino.

LorneB,
You seem to be in a good place!
I have my flight booked and a bed for 2 nights in Lisbon starting 29 May. I have my kit washed from last year and a new pair of sandals. I may start reading my John Breirley soon (well, look at the pics).
Last year I walked east to west, this year I walk...
Great info.....thanks!
''To avoid getting lost, don't invent routes''.
I wish I'd heard this last year when I invented a route between Muxia and Finisterre.
Welcome Ian and Mec,
I can't answer your question specifically as I am not due out of Lisbon until 2 June.
However, I've bought sandals as back-up to my Keen Walking shoes due to the reported amount of Tarmac.
The minimal extra weight I will bear.
Buen Camino
