There won't be 'pilgrim' support between wherever you leave the Central Route, and where you pick up the Camino Finisterre route as this isn't actually part of any Camino. (You may be the only one sporting a scallop shell!😉)
Obviously a doable option though.
Make sure your language skills are up...
Not sure if I'm understanding the question correctly. There is a Camino route which has albergues. This means you can walk from Santiago de Compostela- Finisterre - Muxia - Santiago de Compostela. The route is signed in each direction, so you can choose to go to Finisterre or Muxia first. I...
Probably an obvious tip is NOT to try and plan your camino around where the albergues are located - you will probably find that some of them are closed in January. Would be worth researching which ones are open at the planning stage.
If you decide to cycle, invest in a bell, as us walkers...
I made the mistake of pre-booking a flight home before I went on the Camino Portuguese. Basically, I've allowed to much time even with doing the Variente Espiritual.
I walk into Santiago tomorrow (Weds) and fly home to the uk on Sunday afternoon. Not enough time to do the route to Finisterre/...
I used it last May and was less than impressed. I paid a bit extra to book a specific seat which had been sold to 3 different passengers. Chaos ensued. Coach was late as well; fortunately my flight was the following day, so didn't affect me. Returning in a couple of weeks to do the Central Route...
The restaurant was closed when I stayed; but the hospitalero took food orders which were delivered to the albergue.
Fond memories of sitting at a table on the grassed area, having dinner with a well-earned beer and chatting withe new friends made along the Way.
(Conversation had to compete with...
This won't affect you as Tamel is in
Portugal; your Camino start point (Tui) is further down the Central route and is in Spain at that point.Very easy to navigate from there as the Camino Frances has joined the Central Camino by then; so lots of pilgrims to ask/follow . .
👍
Yes, at the top of a large hill. You're pretty much in Tamel then. Both options take you to/past the albergue, left hand fork must be 75% further though . . . 🫨
Just a small piece of information that other walkers on the Central Route might find useful.
Last year, after a long day (by my standards), walking from Rates to Barcelos, I decided to push on to Tamel. This is a pretty steep incline, which was made more obvious by the 25c temperature that day...
Hi, I enjoyed the whole route from Porto on the Central Route last year and wouldn't miss any of the days out of choice
Top Tip . . . Lose the spreadsheet 😉🤣. It's a lot more fun if there's an element of 'wonder where I'll be sleeping tonight?' involved . . . ((IMO)
Buen Camino
Hi Woody, thanks for that. Reassuring about no crowds, although I'm starting a bit earlier than you did (1st September). Might just suck it and see.
By the way did you take the boat option into Padron or did you hike it?
Frank
Hi all, bit of a dilemma; I know that routes are personal choice, but thought I'd put this out there.
I did SJPDP to Santiago in 2016, Roncenvalles (cunningly avoiding the Pyrenees!) to Santiago in 2017, and Portugues Central route from Porto to Santiago last May,
I am going to get my fix of...
:) Fly to Porto tomorrow to start my Camino on Saturday. Very conscious that it is 5 years and one cardiac arrest since walking the CF.
(Plan B is to roam around Porto for a fortnight sampling the local food and drink!)
Wish me luck!😉🙃😋
