We did the CP inland in 2018. Found the Portuguese people to be wonderful. Look for Casas for lodging. they are local families hosting and great experiences.
Hi Duane
We did the CP last year and had a great time.
First, spend a day in Porto, it is a great city.
Second, don't walk out of Porto, it is very industrialized. Take a train north (other posts on Ivar will tell you how), we went 10 stops, I think, got off the train and walked West. We...
Be prepared for sore feet and legs. We found walking on cobblestones, found during the first three legs of the central route, to be very difficult.
Buen Camino
I was told by the Sacramento Camino group that while normally it is a two day stay at the monestary, if you call ahead they would make arrangements for one night. But you MUST make a reservation.
Buen Camino
We skipped the walk out of Porto. We took the Metro 10Km north, got off and just walked west until we ran into the ocean; then headed north along the boardwalks. The walks on city streets and cobblestones were a killer on our feet and knees.
Buen Camino
Four old guys just finished the Portugues Camino. There are by no means the numbers here as on the CF. BUT there are other groups. In fact we were adopted by a tour group. They even saved seats for us at the cathedral for noon mass. We are guessing there are 20 to 30 walking. On thursday you...
Four Old Guys walking start from Porto on Oct 2nd. I think you will have plenty of company. We are walking up the coast the first day to Vila do Conde, then crossing over to the Central route at Arcos and heading north. We are hoping the rain will be normal this year and not so bad.
Buen Camino
Hi David
Four old guys walking start from Porto on Oct 2nd. We all arrive on the 1st or day before. We plan to walk the coastal route to Viado Conde on the 2nd, and then cross over to the Central and Barcelos on the 3rd. After that a leisurely 12 days to Santiago.
Good Morning
Four of us are leaving Porto on Oct 2nd for our second Camino. We are making reservations in some of the cities now and not finding any difficulties. I have successfully booked my first choice in 6 towns. Since we have already completed one walk, we have a good idea just how far...
Thank you all for the great info. Three of us walked the Camino Frances two years ago and had a great time. This year we are being joined by a fourth and will walk the Camino From Porto to Santiago in Sept. We have been to Porto before and I was wondering how to get out of town.
thank you Bob
My grammar school buddies and I finished the Camino Frances last year, all 500 miles. Last week was the one year anniversary of our arrival in Santiago.
We are considering another Camino, but this time the Portuguese Route. I am concerned about accommodations and the amenities we grew...
