Lisbon airport, and not to be missed in Lisbon?

Thank you all for the wealth of suggestions and information! I’m so grateful and glad to be a part of this pilgrim community. Jungleboy, your terrific article educated me on Lisbon history, besides making me want to do as much as possible in your article. I was truly hoping that Phoenician...

Luggage transfers from Lisbon to Porto

Goofed, thanks. I updated my comment, and gave you attribution.

Luggage transfers from Lisbon to Porto

Lisbon to Porto. I booked luggagedriver.com (not luggageservice.com, thanks to Trecile for spotting my goof). They’re communicative, respond the next day at the latest (I’m 7 hrs behind the time in Portugal), and not outrageously priced. They addressed my questions adroitly and quickly. They...

Lisbon airport, and not to be missed in Lisbon?

I haven’t seen a question on this, so if I missed it, sorry. I’m sure a pilgrim or two have experienced this. I scheduled a private van pickup of my group of 3 from the Lisbon Airport to our lodging. The driver messaged that he will wait for one hour after the plane’s arrival. I figure that I...

Bike tour from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela

@Richard, so helpful, thank you! While I’m aware that the camera’s perspective makes the terrain look more flat, those rocks look rideable and fun(!) on my mountain bike, even with the hybrid tires. My concern is when the rocks are slick with rain and it’s on a hairpin turn. Looks like I better...

Bike tour from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela

What approximate size were the rocks to traverse by bike on the Camino? The hotel‘s secure storage … his bike is a Giant Anthem, which depending on his components, ranges in price from $7.5-10K. The Giant Anthem is Giant’s premiere model, and its components are expensive. The frame alone costs...

Bike tour from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela

That would be awesome to be able to do that. For some like me, riding a touring bike, with its front fork suspension is tolerable for a few hours. If I had to ride daily for several hours on a touring bike, the pain becomes overwhelming and fatiguing.

Bike tour from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela

If you’re staying in an airbnb or hotel while exploring Lisbon, stash your bikes in the airbnb or hotel room. If you’re staying in a hostel, book a private room to keep your bike secure. I will stay in a hotel in Lisbon. When I’m touring Lisbon by foot, I will lock my IBIS Ripmo with both the...

Lost & Found Found Bag in Redondela: Valuables, Shoes, and Clothes

We all make different choices, and I commend you for trying to do the right thing from your perspective. What’s disappointing is that a few made snarky comments, and are insensate that they’re being snide.

    Bug spray

Deet also lasts for 20+ years. We still have backpacking sized bottles of Deet bug spray and cream. They survived the 2018 Woolsey Fire and smoke damage, and they still ward off the mosquitoes. BTW, in my experience as a longtime mosquito magnet, the natural deterrents, e.g., citronella...

    Bug spray

I have a feeling that you are not a mosquito magnet, like my husband. Even when a stray mosquito, not coming after me, bites him, his bites do not swell alarmingly, itch terribly, nor make him look lumpy. I recall hiking in Yosemite in winter in the snow. The sun came out for a bit. So did...

Camino stamp when needing to stray off-stage?

We plan to get Compostelas. We’re biking because both my brother and I can no longer hike long distances. Why is it mandatory to get stamps 2X/day for the last 100 km?

LIVE from the Camino Leaving Lisbon Live (May 2023)

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience along the Camino Porteugues from Lisbon, very much appreciated! My brother and I will journey via bicycles, since we both have major knee problems and I have other major health concerns, and we can no longer hike long distance. So cycling...

Camino stamp when needing to stray off-stage?

How do you get the camino stamp in Portugal if you occasionally travel or stay off-stage? I will be going on my first camino in April, 2024 along the Camino Portugues, starting from Lisbon. I searched on the forum, and unless I missed it, my question has not been previously posted.
