Hi Marco , not quite sure which bit you're interested in ... I walked the VF from England to Rome last year If it's Italy , there is an app from Sloways' which has maps etc for all of Italy from GSB pass to Rome , very useful And free !! Hi I've only just seen this thread ... I did the VF last year , along the established route... And didn't camp ( although I did sleep on the floor of a church !!) Which guidebooks are you using ? - I used Lightfoot guides , which had route info and accommodation details in them, also...- Jotown

Last year I used the (3) Lightfoot guides, and found them to be the best ... Now I understand you can even download them as ebooks, and download the tracks to superimpose on a digital map- which would have been my preferred option ... Dependent on which sections you walk, will depend on what...- Jotown

? Hostel Association Membership necessary on Via Francigena
I stayed in the youth hostel at Lausanne - as a pilgrim they only charged me the 'members rate ' , along with 3 other pilgrims ( although, like you I had read I would be charged more , and had joined anyway !) This was the only 'youth hostel' I stayed at on the entire route ... So dependent on...- Jotown

Can I add, it's well worth registering and going through the entire route to the Holy Door from Castel D'Angelo. I completed the VF this week, had pre-registered from home, and just completed my date request when I knew when I would arrive. However I helped some other pilgrims to register 'on...- Jotown

Starting from Canterbury
I arrived in Calais 3 weeks ago No problems, yes there were several groups of young men walking around, eating at the same food stall as I, chatting... Not sure where you're going , but if on Via Francigena...I just followed the canal out of town to Guines so you're only in Calais a couple of hours- Jotown
