    Infected by the Camino bug

Oh, the Portuguese is such a great route with great food! I have not walked the VdlP (yet), but I visited Sevilla last year and it´s a wonderful place! I hope we never get 'cured' of the camino bug!

Porto to Santiago in 8 days? hmmmm

It took me 11 days through the central route, I'm average fit. Could have done in 10, but would be tough and rushed for my pace. Do you have only 8 days? Maybe take the train out of Porto and start ahead, like in Barcelos, which is a lovely place as well.

Webster The Patogrino Prepares for his First Camino

OMG, A PATOGRINO 🤩 I love it! Hope both of you have a quacking time on camino! (For a moment I thought you were walking with a pet duck, like some people walk with dogs or donkeys...)

Is it necessary to pre-book accommodations along the Portuguese Way?

I don't know about the boat ride, as I have not used it. But for the trail, there is plenty of accommodation, specially if you are mixing albergues and private places. There are some lovely small inns along the way, and the food is great in that region. I would only book the first night in Tui...

Planning our first Camino trip: 12km per day, Tui to Santiago

I was typing an answer, but Dbier was quicker! As said, once you reach 100km from Santiago, you need 2 stamps per day until you get to the cathedral, no matter how much you walked before that.

    Gratitude to forum contributors

So glad you are about to go on Camino, Palouse! Which route did you choose?

I keep talking myself out of it....

Hi Bradley. I waited almost 30 years do have the independence and money I needed to do a camino. But in the end it costed way less than I budgeted for. And the camino was very different from what I planned - different stops, companion needing medical attention, unexpected beauty all around. The...

    Our first Camino plan

We used TuiTrans, and they were very easy to deal with. https://tuitrans.com/?lang=en They collected my suitcase in Porto, and when I arrived in Santiago 11 days later, the suitcase was waiting for me in Hotel San Clemente, where I had made a booking in advance (with flexibility to change dates...

    Our first Camino plan

Sounds like a very good plan for a relaxed walk. You did the build up well, starting with 15km and going up. I did not take a rest day in Pontevedra, but it was my favourite city on the Camino portugues. We got new insoles for my husband, played escape rooms, went to church, a bit of everything...

    100 km --TOTAL??

The Portuguese is such a lovely route! It will depend on how much time you have, but maybe start closer to Santiago and walk smaller distances each day? To make sure you do the 100k continuous? Valença do Minho and Tui are the cities on the border of Portugal/Spain and are super lovely, with...

    Just for Laughs

Do you always get one (or more) mini-toothpast after a dentist appointment, because ÿou will use it on camino", even though you do a camino once in a blue moon and go to the dentist every year? :P As the proud owner of a mini tooth-paste collection spanning multiple brands, from dentist, super...

    "I would walk 500 Miles"

I just want to reinforce that there is no official starting point to the Frances and, by that logic, starting anywhere that is not your door is cheating. It's between you and God the effort you put in your camino, so choose wisely what works for you, your faith and your wellbeing :) For a first...

    When was your first Camino?

I wanted to have done it in 1989, but as I was just a 8yo, my parents didn´t let me. Had to keep that dream alive until I had the money and time to do it as an grown up, in 2015. I´m so glad I never let that plan die. EDIT: so, how does an 8yo finds out about the camino? When an acquaintance of...

    Camino calling me

Hi Sam Another vote for Camino Frances. January is winter in Spain and most services are close, so I'd stick with the route that has more infrastructure. Also, despite the fact lots of albergues close, if you have the budget, consider going to small inns (if you share a room with another...

Second attempt at first Camino Sep. 14th 2019

And to ease the pressure on yourself, maybe reduce your daily waking from the 30km mark to around 20km something? Specially on the first days, it is good to leave some energy ti do other things than walking (rest from journey, find hotel, etc). In a few days you will know your pace well and...
