Hola,
I am starting from Logrono on the 25th of April. Perhaps our paths will cross.
If you have a room reservation, the hotel that I stay at in Santiago allows you to ship a bag/package to them and they will store it in a locked room for free until you arrive. It worked well for me. The...
Burgos is very clearly marked. The bus station is on one side of the river and the Camino is on the other side. Of course the Camino passes behind the large Cathedral. You will notice that the Camino seems to always pass by the local church. The Burgos Tourist Office is just off the Camino...
Hello and welcome to this forum.
You can catch a bus to Burgos from the Madrid airport. It is direct and takes 2-1/2 hours. Very easy.
The Camino is on the other side of the river.
Getting to Leon from Burgos in one week is doable.
Have fun.
Buen Camino
No worries anout doing this alone. You won't be. One one the many magical benefits of this journey is the new people you will meet. Most of us make friendships that last a lifetime.
Take care of your feet and the rest of you will follow.
Buen Camino
I wish that I was starting again today. I had all my gear ready to go again within 72 hours after I came home at the end of May. But, Alas I won't be back until Mid-April 2017.
Happy to hear that you have trekking poles. Your knees will remind you when to use them.
Buen Camino
Welcome to the Forum.
In my opinion most of the Camino is about taking care of your feet. If they are in good shape, the rest of you will follow. Trekking poles help the knees and also help keep one's balance. I would not walk the Camino without them. But I am one of the older guys...
Hello Sarah,
Welcome to the forum and happy birthday. I walked it for the first time last April and May and it enriched my life. It is something that I think about every day. I only wish I hadn't waited until I was 71 to do it.
Lurk and interact to your hearts content.
Buen Camino !
Welcome to the forum. In my opinion it all comes down to your feet. There is a lot of advice on this forum about foot care. I recommend that you read it all. Unfortunately there is no one solution for everyone, but most would agree with the idea about changing socks every couple of hours when...
Welcome to the forum. At my age, every birthday is significant!
There is a lot of good information available on this forum and using it for research will help the days pass until you finally get to Spain. You might want to pay a lot of attention to the threads referring to foot care...
This is going to be a great experience for you. Lots of good advice and resources on this Forum. I encourage you to take advantage of all of them. Buen Camino !
Hunsta Hello,
We are cool. Sorry to hear about your accident and happy to learn that you worked out a solution. I wear otrhotics as well.
I realized when I walked the Camino earlier this year that the only thing I really needed to have in my back pack was a spare set of feet.:( I was...
It is very unfortunate for this person to be having so many problems.
I would guess that when you start your quest, you will be grateful for all of your preparation in advance.
Buen Camino!
I think that it is a great plan. You can't over research foot care. There is a thread called "Day two ended up with two big blisters" that I encourage you to check out. It is painful to read but it clearly makes the point that your feet are very important for enjoying the Camino.
Follow your dream and make it whole. When you finally start, you can walk by yourself if your choose to, but you are never alone on the Camino. That is part of the magic. When you do your research this forum, please pay a lot of attention to the threads about foot care. Once your are...
Hello - That is good news to hear. I have a lot of compassion for the few number the dogs that I have seen on the Camino. Often their owners are carrying them because they are worn out and/are injured in some way. There are lots of success stories too, I guess. There is a wonderful and...
Hello,
Welcome to the forum. So right now its happy 49th birthday to you.
I would guess that about 95 percent of the people walking on the Camino and doing it for the first time. So don't worry about that. Then after a few days, everything clicks into to place and the awkwardness goes...
