Keith your never too old to walk theCamino. This is a great route. I have walked it twice solo and god willing I will walk it again next year. Have a look at www.godesalco.com website if you are planning to walk this route.

I agree wholeheartedly, a good pair of walking sticks, anti flam medication (ibrufen which you can buy over the counter at any farmacia dosages ranging from 200 - 800mg) and a good supportive knee brace that you can wash. Also good shoes help,too. :)

If you can spend a few hours each week easy walking with a small day pack - go for it.
Remember, Start small then build up. Small distances first - down to the corner store and back before progressing to the longer distances.

You might want to check out flying into Paris then training down to St Jean and stay overnight.
Check out the hostel Orisson which is out of St Jean and a recommended stop if you choose to cross over the Pyrenees route.
I did this camino twice and enjoyed it as will you.
