Doable, but why not wait to Leon and try the San Salvador coupled with the Primitivo? I always think of them as companion walks, even though I haven't yet don the San Salvador (time!) Then you could turn right in Lugo and head over via the Camino Verde to Sobrado on the Del Norte and continue...
Exactly what @MikeJS said!! But don't let that deter you.
Regarding the dog issue, I found walking the Primitive and the Camino Verde that if you just keep walking, don't make eye contact with the dogs it just quietly resolves itself. There was on incident on the Invierno, I think it was after...
LOL! Your walking basically what we did in '08 for what sound like some of the same reasons. The others I was walking with wouldn't couldn't do more than around 100k. But it was a lovely enjoyable wake and a great way to get over the jitters!
Personally, I am also a big Keens fan. I'm onto...
Buen Camino all! Setting my sights on the Primitive this time around. Plan to begin walking on October 11th or 12th. Depends how much time I spend in Oviedo! :-)
I hear you!! It took me close to that to make my first! Damn kids to raise etc ;-) But it'll be so worth it!!! Wishing you a truly heartfelt God bless & Buen Camino.
Exactly why I loved my stuff sacks!! So easy to find things and know where they are at all times. Routine!! I also had a morning pat down routine that allowed me to notice very quickly if I'd forgotten to pick up some small item, such as my camera. It lived in one particular pocket at all...
Hi...Looks like we're the only one's walking the Primitivo in September! Ahh well, who knows perhaps by the time we arrive in SdC some of you will be there!! :-)
Re: Panning on walking the Camino Francés June 2012
Happy to see you are pLanning to walk...I got worried when I saw panning in the header! I thought maybe someone started a thread about how much they didn't like the Camino, especially in June!
Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy!!! The flowers will...
I think you really hit on something there...chocolate!! Don't think I would have ever refused it if offered! And can't say I ever had my offers of pasta refused!
I started in SJPP and someone I met later who began in Leon, is still, to this day a year later, someone I talk to frequently! So...
Principessa...do NOT sweat it!! It will be there loss, when you come home, eyes alight and with a pack full of stories from the road. You will truly come home with stories of friends, angels and more. Maybe next time they will be more willing to come along with you, now a veteran of the...
I got goosebumps reading about the first pilgrims you saw! I can see the streets of Pamplona ... and the people making room for them! Beautiful post and you are one lucky man. My family still thinks I'm nuts, and that's after two Camino's! Aw hell, they maybe right anyhow!
Wishing you all...
Kiwi!!! I'm so excited to see your dates are set! Something to really look forward to. I'm still trying to see if there is a way over, for a short one in 2012! Hmm, will just have to see how things go. Thinking if I can it'll be the Ingles this time. Anything longer is going to take me...
Yeah....I thinks so..losing around 15 pounds between SJPP & SdC...yeah...that and being ill, yet so incredibly happy I coulda bust!! Some people even commented when they saw me back home, that I looked or held myself differently. Dunno bout that but I'll take their word on it!
Arn, thanks for the food reminder...actually the next time I'm up at Sunfish Pond or near Hawk Mt....I'll have to remember to bring something extra...canned to leave perhaps. I'd never really stopped to think that I could perhaps make a thru hikers trip a little brighter that way...just as on...
Hey Dan,
Like some of the others here...I too am green with envy! Just wanted to comment about "missing" people if you wild camp...don't worry about it. Some of my best moments along the way were meals spent with guys who were wild camping...some of them camping almost exclusively! Philippe...
