Thank you! That is my point - poison is flowing here and already one pilgrim says she will not walk Camino Portugal - that is sad to me. And if you think about it, we still know no real facts. That is sad that her dream is gone now forever.

A tourism board I have never heard of before rated countries in that article, not my favorite source, but, good to see they like Portugal! I used an internationally recognized source that keeps data year to year and is used to understand the Peace...
I can understand - I can only show you statistics that are collected, reliable, and sharable. If you feel the police in Portugal are reliable, you can contact them of course, that to me is a reliable source of information too about crime related to Camino in their towns...

I agree with all about staying safe etc - but, am I the only one who senses an unfair momentum building here with north (safe) vs south (unsafe) - that is not fair to people who live in south Portugal, to the folks who work the southern camino hostels and other housing, the food they serve etc...
