Can Geneva - Le Puy route be done on €35 per day without camping?

Yes I agree, I spent way less between Geneva and Le Puy than Le Puy onwards.

Can Geneva - Le Puy route be done on €35 per day without camping?

France is way more expensive than Spain. I can walk in Spain for 30 Euro's a day comfortably. When I walked Le Puy route (five years ago) I budgeted for 40 Euro a day and it was really tight. Some days I had to choose between accommodation OR an evening meal and freecamp. I would of been more...

From Geneva to the End of the World.....

The rest of the posts cover Geneva to Le Puy and Le Puy to St. Jean Pied de Port (well Orisson). Glad you liked it! Davey

Hello, I'm Scared to walk from Geneva

Sounds tough going, I wish you well. Just wondering if you have a copy of the 'Yellow Guide' for the GR65 by The association of friends of Saint Jacques en Rhône-Alpes? I found it the best accommodation guide for this route. Take care and Bon Chemin

Yeah I loved it so much I am thinking of doing it again next spring! Possibly from Geneva again!

Hello, I'm Scared to walk from Geneva

There is no need to carry a tent. Those I saw carrying a tent (myself included) were a minority. Those of us that did did so to cut costs. If you can afford accommodation every night there really is no need. If you walk from Geneva you will not be disappointed! Davey

Hello, I'm Scared to walk from Geneva

Hello! I walked from Geneva to Santiago as my first Camino in 2015. Best thing I ever did. I wrote a blog with photos which you can find on this forum here https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/from-geneva-to-the-end-of-the-world.40650/ Why not order your credential from the forum...

    Geneva to Le Puy

I found the prices were about the same as the rest of France I walked (Le Puy to St Jean). I didn't linger in Geneva though, THAT was expensive! Luckily the French border is very close to Geneva (around 8km or so). The pilgrim infrastructure was pretty good. Lots of the usual Gites, but also...

Geneva to Le Puy is lovely! Here is the day to day blog I wrote after I walked it - with pictures - here on this forum https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/from-geneva-to-the-end-of-the-world.40650/ Davey

Glad you enjoyed it Trevor! Yes there was a bit of a heatwave when I walked it then. Great pictures! Davey

From Geneva to the End of the World.....

First pilgrimage from Geneva?! Well you won't be disappointed, it is truly stunning! Hard work but really, really beautiful. You may miss the camaraderie that is more prevalent on the more used routes, but I met many lifelong friends along there too. It is very well marked. In the end I did go...

Hoping to Walk Geneva to LePuy in Sept 2020

At the time no. First I never had a phone with me, plus the route was so well marked all I really needed was the Yellow Guide for accommodation. I did carry the Topo guide for maps just in case a secluded or difficult part had to be got around due to bad weather etc. Since that Camino I now use...

Hoping to Walk Geneva to LePuy in Sept 2020

The guide you really want is the 'yellow Guide' for up to date accommodations. The 2019 is out now, by next September the 2020 should be out. From here: http://chemins.amis-st-jacques.org/?page_id=6 I also found useful the Topo Guide (with good maps for finding short cuts) but not necessary...

    Le Puy to Geneva

I can't see any problems walking Le Puy to Geneva. As stated above the waymarking on the GR routes are in both directions. I do advise getting the 'Yellow Guide' for accommodation along this section. It also includes locals who will take in pilgrims...

Back on the Camino: Geneva on the 25th March ...

I started from Geneva in 2015 and stayed at the Geneva Hostel which was great (was 25 Euros but more now I see) and cheap for Geneva. Within hours you will have walked to France so you will not be in Switzerland long! I wrote a blog on this site about my journey you might be interested in...

    Starting location in Geneva?

True, I got a stamp in both when I started from Geneva in 2015. I stayed at the Geneva Hostel which was fine. Was E25 then. Davey
