I’m on my phone and in a foreign country (aren’t most of us 😉) but @WCP might find a better route by breaking the journey down a bit. Perhaps Logrono/Burgos/Leon/Lugo/Sarria. There are consistent bus services between the major cities. The bus companies have little regard for the needs of...
Rome2Rio says: https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Logro%C3%B1o/Sarria Which translates as “if I we’re going there I wouldn’t start from here”. That said train Logrono to Madrid, Madrid to Sarria is doable in a day or an excuse for a night in Madrid
You might trip over a kerb on your way to the Correos in Pamplona and your parcel would never get sent. Seriously, as a professional catastrophizer (auditor) I would say that you have addressed the risk and identified appropriate resolutions. Any of the solutions you've suggested would be...
You could perhaps catch the 5pm bus.

Though you might need to leave Barcelona a little sooner rather than later
According to R2R, fly. https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Santiago-de-Compostela/Bilbao If you have time and a sense of adventure you could use the FEVE railway from Ferrol, takes 3 days but it’s a great way to travel
There is nothing to stop you taking your dog on Cercanias lines. See: https://www.renfe.com/es/en/travel/informacion-util/pets Which means you can use local trains and the FEVE lines along the North coast. With careful research and planning you and your dog can get anywhere in Spain. Very...
It’s unlikely, though possible, that the bus will still be running in October which leaves you with an expensive taxi ride. A flight to Biarritz, bus to Bayonne, train to St Jean would be an alternative but not any cheaper. You could always just start walking from Pamplona
If they will be in Madrid for two days they'll have time to go to Atocha and buy tickets over the counter a day in advance if on-line booking proves too difficult.
Here are the train times and prices for Saturday 4th May. There is unlikely to be any variance...
When? When is the question. No one can help you if you don’t tell us when.
Tickets on RENFE are typically made available about 1 month in advance. Madrid is a great city to spend a few months so perhaps they could just wait until you could meet them there 😉
Mid-April. Mid-week?
I’d not be bothered about booking ahead. Chances are that there’ll be seats on the bus. If not Bilbao is great city to spend a night if you have to and there’s plenty of inexpensive accommodations around the Intermodal
You are still to early to book a ticket for May. RENFE are showing trains up till the end of April. There is a direct train every Friday at 13:08 arrives Astorga 17:36. It's possible that a combination of train to Palencia and a change there would also work.
You should be able to pre-book at...
It’s a pretty desperate thief that wants a pilgrims’ sweaty and dusty gear or a pretty foolish pilgrim who puts anything of value in the hold of bus.
That said I have never had any thing stolen from the hold of a bus in over a thousand journeys. Guess I’m just lucky 😉
@HappyToBeBeBe “life’s a bitch and then we die” was my Uncle John’s view on it all. Happily I never took much notice of Uncle John. Grandma taught me that “tomorrow’s always gonna be another day”.
I’m sorry for your troubles, may they pass. And so to answer your core question. A flight into...
