I agree, you have plenty of time. Donť worry, you"ll make it. The Primitivo is more difficult than the Norte after Santander and maybe the weather will become worse, so if I were you, I'd plan shorter sections on the Primitivo.
Buen Camino!
The albergue will be full, I guess. But the hospitalero might help you. About 8 years ago he suggested that I stay at a youth hostel (quite far from the albergue) and I followed his advice. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the hostel.
In July the Norte is not too crowded. But August is a bit different, as mentioned above. So I suggest you start at the beginning (or at latest in the middle)of July) if you want to avoid the holidaymakers.
And there is a very good and cheap bar in Serdio! :)
Here is the albergue:

Now there is a painting on the wall.
Hi Gint,
I started my Camino in Santander in July and I didn't have a credencial. I took an old one with me hoping that later I will be able to obtain a new one. However, on the very first day I was given a sheet of paper by the hospitalera which was meant to substitute the credencial so I...
In July I met a middle-aged Canadian woman who had walked this route with two other pilgrims and was happy to be still alive. She also showed me some photos. As for me, I don't think I would ever want to climb these rocks. :rolleyes:o_O;)
Hi gypsy9,
It might be difficult to find a bed on the Norte sometimes, but don't worry, there is always a sollution.
Last time (in 2015) the albergue in Pasajes was full - I don't like running for beds... so we had to take the bus to San Seb as my companion was too tired to walk on. My...
Hi Jane, I have walked 10 Caminos without gluten. :) During the last few Caminos I had almost no problem. There might be difficulties in the mountains without villages and bars/shops or in boiling hot weather when you can't carry proper extra food with you. Bread lasts only for 2 days in the...
What a pitty! Casa Belén is run by a German couple and it is one of the best private albergues. However, they don't advertise themselves. It is an unforgettable feeling when somebedy is walking there exhausted and thirsty and then unexpectedly comes across this wonderful place.
liiluuk, when you are in the albergue, ask the hospitalero if there is a dryer (secadora). Luckily, now you can often find one. This is the only help. My experience shows that if it rains there, you will get wet after a while, even if you have the best poncho. ;)
Hi Arthur. Thank you for this very useful information. My friend and I are planning to spend our first night there on Monday, 18th July. It was a very long way to the "old" albergue so I am happy that we won't have to walk in vain. :)
