    IMHO: crossing the bridge to Irun gives you 2 options : directly on your right there are some shops AND a simple hotel ( don't remember the name!). There's also an albergue in Irun run by the association of pelgrims in Irun: if you google you will find them! PB: it's less then a 5 minute walk...

    Dave, Fully agreed with this! The North Route is fabulous, great and....tough but also our favorite above the CF en the Vezelay-route that we walked.

    Yes, definitely.....It's great there! There's one option to avoid that routing: we took the other side of the river. Also not very beautiful but better than the other side! We also took the bus out of Bilbao to the border of the city (direction Portugalette). Paul Good luck with your choice!
