Yes there are couple restaurants. And I hope you have time to visit the Simon Bolivar museum (free when I was there few years ago). Simon Bolivar was the "founding father" of Venezuela, and he was from the town of Bolibar!! It is a small museum set in a three level house, very well...
I looked into my files, here's more info on leaving Lourdes, as posted by others on the forum:
Lourdes to SJPdP - this is the stages part of the Voie du Piemont vppyr site @jsalt posted: http://vppyr.free.fr/vpp-index-etapes.php
Annie's nice website and direction to get out Lourdes to the...
Hi Luis, Lourdes is a nice place with lots of pilgrims (not the type of walking the Caminos) and is worth staying there couple nights! There is also an albergue, or gite as called in France:
In Lourdes: about 10 euros,
Accueil Jacquaire, Jean-Louis Doux, 21a, rue devPau, 65100 Lourdes, tel...
Robo, very true and very elegantly stated! El Camino is indeed “Camino de Vida”! A positive mind gives us purpose, equanimity, and energy to move forward and enjoy life of “ true Christianity “ of kindness, love and respect for others. No need to look for negative things, I prefer to use the...
I walked the Norte four years ago and I missed the redlines couple times (scenic Détours that take you away from walking the asphalt), it usually is a bit longer but is lot more enjoyable!I think those redlines are sometimes marked as GR routes and is beautiful! Enjoy!
I am walking Norte now and staying in a 10 days old new albergue, 20 rooms 12euros and 9.5 euros for supper. 8km before Germika, right on the camino!
The albergue at Deba on top of the train station is very nice for 5 euros, but you must register at the tourist office (not open between 2 to...
Hi Dave, for your info, I am walking the Norte now and just stop at a new private albergue (10days old). It is a beautiful facility right by the camino after Mendata and about 8 km before Gernika. I am here by myself! 20 beds, 12 euros and 9.5 euros for supper. 946253150
Hope you find this...
Yes I have recently read about the blablacar in this forum, I will check it out, thanks!
And I too plan to walk to Pasaje either Sept 15th or 16th. Glad to meet up with you!
Buen Camino!
Thanks Donovan, indeed by entering Loiu instead of Bilbao, the pesa.net site shows a bus to SS from Bilbao airport, and I could actually make it to Irun by 9 pm. It is a nice option, it would not give me much time to get to know fellow peregrinos in the Irun albergue. So I am leaning on...
Thanks for the suggestion and the useful websites. I have been reading this forum for a while and really like Norte, and a lot of your answers to others' questions too! Thanks for your kindness!
Thanks Anemone, from the schedule looks like I wouldn't get to Irun before 10pm and would miss staying in the hospital de peregrinos.
Another question -- if I start walking from Bilbao to Santiago instead of starting from Irun, would I be missing the most scenic parts of the Norte?
Last minute questions -- I was planning to walk the VdLP with my wife but now she wants to do it next April. So I just booked myself a flight to Bilbao arriving 6pm.
1. How do I get to Irun from Bilbao airport and then to the Irun hospital de peregrino (hopefully get there in before they...
Hi Peter, my name is Simon, from Saskatoon, Sk., Canada. And I plan to do solo the same as you and around early May too, so may cross path sometimes! I have learnt a lot about the C.Norte by reading up on this forum!
Buen Camino!
Simon
