Greetings Mdelag! Luarca is a beautiful little harbor town. The villages that follow all the way to Ribadeo are are very nice! We enjoyed a day off in Ribadeo. The two days after Ribadeo are long but getting to Tapia de Casariego makes it worth it. Also there is a Parador in Vilalba that is...
The last four years my wife and I have done the the CF, (twice) CP and last year, in the fall, we did the full Norte. This Camino was tougher. We are not spring chickens, she was pushing 63 and I turned 67 on the Norte. Get past the first 7 days and you can get through the Norte. It is so...
Sorry you didn’t get your compostela! I agree with you in that the Camino Frances is getting out of hand with the amount of people. They should set a certain amount of time each day for people that have walked a full Camino. Some kind of distance pecking order! But congratulations on finishing...
I started following this thread early on with great interest. Now that I just finished (Last week) The Norte from Irùn to Santiago I can give a first hand recent account of what the Norte was like for a couple that are in their sixties (I’m 68, my wife 63), and have walked the Frances twice...
My wife and I just finished The Norte, Irùn to Santiago, last week. If you would like to see a day by day account of our Camino Norte, it is on Instagram, please search.....t_vela_aka_lb_pilgrim.
I’m with you..we start in late August and I’m turning 67 in September. My fourth Camino in four years. I too hope experience and training many miles on hard surfaces will serve me well on the Norte.
Good luck/Buen Camino...my wife and I will be about 7 days behind you! If you get time let me know of any “must not miss places” that you enjoyed, not to mention lodging in the small or big towns.
Have a great adventure!
Greetings all!
I’ll be in Deba on August 25th. I started looking for a room for my wife and I but found nothing on that date. The Geltoki Pilgrims Hostel (an old train station) has 56 beds and I saw it got good ratings from pilgrims. Can any of you who have stayed there give me some information...
Thanks for the update,,, my wife and I are starting August 23, it’s good to know there are many options for short stages! We plan on taking our time. I am a bit worried about that first day from Irún. I hope there are beds available in Pasajes!
