I leave Bilbao on 4/26 and will be watching this thread also. I booked a bed in Portugalete and then in Castro Urailes as I acclimate without the hassle of added worry
I got hopelessly lost and it took me 2 days to get to Passia. It was early may last year and there were no other walkers to be seen. I am not sure why I got so lost, I agree the French Way is comfortably marked. I have no suggestions and await others' reponses
Buena camino. I expect to be starting at Bilbao 9/17. I did irun to Bilbao last spring and it was very difficult for me so I switched to the Portuguese way. I hope to get back out there in the fall
Let's meet on May 8th and figure this out together. I will stay overnight May 7 in Hendaye and plan to walk across a bridge the next morning to Irun. I have no idea about this walk although i have been told the Cathedral will stamp our passport
See you all out there, Will start from irun May 8, barring any SNAFUS with the train from Paris. I hear that they strike on Mondays and Tuesdays. Is this even possible???
I did it, am all set to get from Boston to Paris (via Reykjavik) to Hendaye on leaving on May 6. Tuesday May 8 I will walk over the bridge to Irun and just start walking. Scared and excited.
Thanks for your reply, I too believe that it is putting one foot in front of the other, although I have made it a habit to increase my regular walking habits before i travel. I also like Bikram yoga very much. i will be leaving Boston on May 6th for Paris and then train it to Hendaye and walk...
The Camino will provide. I am old enough to realize options should I get too lonely. I start may 8, once I pull the trigger on my flight across the pond
Looking at schedules I see the Paris train arrives later in the afternoon. Is it better to remain in Hendaye or walk to irun (how long is the walk and get a room there??? Thanks to you all
