I loved the feeling of falling into the hands of God on La Plata. The vibes of the route and the pilgrims that manage it have a unique balance all their own: stillness and exertion.
Good to know. Your info is more current than my own. I was thinking about the area around Embalse de Alcantara to Galisteo and onward to Banos de Montemayor. Sounds like that beautiful section is now well travelled and sufficiently supported.
For a couple of vets like yourselves starting in Caceres should be okay, but bear in mind that that section to Salamanca is one of the more sketchy parts of the route. I haven't done that portion since 2011when they were tearing up huge sections of it but from what I gather from this forum you...
Maybe not. There are some days (perhaps many) that are not for the casual sometime walker. Day 3 out of Seville (in my opinion) is more difficult than any on the French route including day 1 (except in the snow).
