    From Zamora: Sanabres or VdLP to Frances in Astorga?

    I’ve walked the Sanabres twice as a finale to both the VdlP (2018) and the Levante(2022). The Sanabres wins hands down for me over the Frances. Plenty of opportunity for solitude and beautiful ‘naturaleza’ but with adequate infrastructure to support your journey. I’d recommend the Sanabres 😊

    Well worth a try if you don’t fancy the municipal albergue. casa Tomas was destroyed by fire in Jan 2018 and has now been beautifully restored. Still €15 per person in a two/three or 4 bedded room. Food in the bar downstairs very good. Host genial and very welcoming to peregrinos

    Usually check Gerald Kelly the night before (2016 edition) and use the app as I go along. I just found the way marks a bit confusing in the village and immediately after the motorway underpass. No issue really. Other PeregrInos will probably have no probs.

    Have just arrived in Calzada de Valdunciel after a frustrating exit from Salamanca. Other pilgrims I’ve met today agree the way marking in Aldeaseca de la Armiñá is confusing after the exit from the village so be aware. Also my ‘Wise Pilgrim’ app which has so far been a great help completely...

    Hi Jean Claude. The Feria runs from 14th to 21st April. Seville will be crammed and expensive. I’m in Hotel Simon 9/10 and starting VdlP on 11th. Rates were reasonable. Buen Camino!
