We walked the VDLP and thoroughly enjoyed it. So different from CF. The scenery changes slowly as you walk north. We walked in late winter early spring, so spring caught up with us!! Birds and greenery..so beautiful. Starting in a poorer area, with the trail maintained and marked differently...
We walked in February from sevilla to santiago, via ourense, arriving in early april. The weather was perfect for not being too hot. I cannot comment on the fall temperatures. However there is an app we used, after leaving our guidebook in a bar! Its in the app store and called ViadelaPlata...
I really feel that it is not my business to judge if someone takes a taxi. I can make reservations ahead if worried about numbers...but we didnt have that issue on VDLP Each one of us has our own Camino and will do it in our own way. I like the thought that taxi fares help the local economy...
We just finished the VDLP at the end of March. We saw a total of 26 different people on the entire walk, that being said, the alburgues were just opening up and we usually saw people at the end of the day in the alburgues. It is less traveled than CF and has its own charm because of that...
We are just completing the cvdp, resources that were useful are Kelly' s book available on Amazon, and check the app store. We used one called Via de la Plata, then Sanbres app for the option through Ourense. There are a couple of long days (32km) and they may be back to back. But do-able...
