I stayed there early Oct. 2014-the hospitalera was efficient, charming and helpful. Also passed by in the spring and the albergue was closed due, I am told, to " local politics ". Perhaps there are issues which are affecting staff.
Actually, it was only the last three days in August but, man it was hot! We tried to leave between 6-7 am and get most of the heavy walking done by noon, at least in the first few weeks. The temperature rose steadily every day from 7am and didn't stop rising until about 7 at night. Walking in...
Arrived in Santiago on Oct. 9 (42 days) having completed the Via de Plata from Seville . Happy to say that in the first 39 days we walked in the rain only once! Galicia wasn't so kind as we got soaked 2 of the last 3 days--but it just didn't matter by then. Feeling very fortunate--many thanks!

Well, to all those who have followed this thread, I have to say that, the night before leaving I have decided not to walk the Via de Plata,. Instead, I will walk the Frances starting in Pamplona and quit likely veer onto to the Salvador up to Oviedo, then to the Primitivo or El Norte. My plan...
I really dont think the later Easter will affect accommodations. If I were running an albergue which traditionally opened on April 1, I wouldn't change the date--it's a seasonal thing really. On the other hand, the number of pilgrims should be much lower in the first two weeks of April...
