whilst looking for something else entirely, I came across a gps track for the new route, put up just a couple of days ago. This is identical to my guess, so I'm assuming this is correct and have replaced the mapping.
I've added this to my mapping http://maps.peterrobins.co.uk/e/2448.html - at least, following the route obvious on both the IGN maps and the satellite/aerial photos, though I can't entirely match this to John's description, particularly in the area marked 'Coirogal' (whatever that means) on the...
yes, I assumed that's where the change was. It's obvious on the map - though whether those lines on the map actually exist on the ground is quite another matter :-)
I just took a look at this John, and it looks like there's a major chunk of description missing, roughly between where you cross the N550 at Agualada and the Poligono (Telsis). Is that intentional? AFAICS the route Sigueiro-Agualada hasn't changed - is that correct?
Google's walking routes are really only useful in cities, not in the countryside.
Use the IGN maps
AFAIK there is no described route; depends on what (if anything) you want to see en route.
I did work out a route on the map, as it's long something I've wanted to do. Not so far got round to actually walking it tho. Via the hamlet of Roncesvalles (also spelt Roncesvales), as it would appeal to my sense of humour to march into the Pilgrim Office and tell them I've come from Corunna...
Camino real is roughly equivalent to King's Highway in England - i.e. comes under the aegis of the crown rather than being locally maintained. The name is widely used for major roads throughout Hispanic America as well as in Spain itself. Same applies to drove roads, Real Cañada.
Unlike in...
indeed. I see there's also mention that 'prosiguen los trabajos en la posada de Betanzos' (so it's still not finished), and also mention of the one in Carral. This prompted me to do a search, and I find http://www.concellocarral.com/index.php ... ticia=1436 and...
so those who would sleep in an albergue would spend more money than those who sleep in the sports hall? Sounds rather dubious to me! If they would be sleeping there rather than in a hotel (not that there are that many in Betanzos), they're likely to be spending much less.
It's likely there's...
In the rectoral, tho as it's only a discussion point at the moment, I wouldn't hold your breath

The article also mentions that work has still not started on the albergue in Sigueiro, so the community is planning on again allowing pilgrims...

still talking of it being ready next year, tho if they carry on at this pace it'll be 2015 before it's ready

Now if they could just create a footpath on the railway bridge over the river, that would save people the 4km or so detour to the north . . .

A new north-western extension to the Camino de San Andres, from the coast at the 12th-century Ermida de Santa Comba to Ferrol, via Covas, Esmelle, Doniños and Brión, was opened last year, part of a rural development scheme. A new albergue has now also been opened in a former school at Covas...
ending today, but I've only just got notice of it http://www.udc.es/documentos/conferencias/43.asp
Good to see the CI getting some attention. Despite the emphasis on tourism, some of the talks sound interesting. I wonder if any proceedings will be published?
now the local press reports that Oroso council have approved a change of land use - so it seems they still haven't started building the thing. The address will be 1 Paseo del río Carboeiro
more on this seemingly interminable project in the local press today (glaciers move faster) Correo Voz
The Concello has now granted the land for the new albergue to the Xunta. According to the alcalde, the project "is practically finished and we hope it will be ready shortly". As they haven't...
