Peregrinas, did you use your urination device on your camino?

A funny side story to this thread - On a camino some years ago my wife had the call of nature bell go off and she stepped off the trail to find an appropriate place to answer the "bell". Being on the Meseta portion there was nowhere "appropriate" to conceal herself so she continued away from the...

    Sun Umbrella

I used to laugh at people carrying an umbrella while hiking until I tried it myself. Now, I wouldn't be caught without one. They make such a difference, especially at the end of the day when all you want to do is shower then elevate your feet. I purchased the Gossamer and found it to be well...

Packing list : How to keep your feet dry in case of Heavy rain - A Cheap and light weight hack

I couldn't agree more... Using plastic bags over your feet would be ideal in a survival situation, but for walking a Camino not so much. If it's a torrential rainfall maybe bivouac under a tree for a while and wait out the storm. No use creating problems with blisters etc... when you have many...

    What not to bring

    What not to bring

(For me) - - An absolute must have, especially right now with the heat blanketing Europe. Besides, good luck finding any for sale along a camino route. They weigh next to nothing, but are worth their weight in gold when needed by you or by someone in need.

Do I need to pack waterproof trousers & jacket?

A poncho and an umbrella will do.

    To Poncho or Not Poncho...

I know this is a yearly topic that comes up on this forum when we are all getting ready to "dial in" our packs. (Kind of like the poles on airplanes topic). :) Just added food for thought to complicate your decision......... When packing for any Camino or other hiking trip I always use the...

Clothes to bring for ‘norte’ Camino late April .

Count on rain, even in the summer months. (Summer 2018. I walked it in 42 days and had rain for 14 of them)

Help me pick my pack! :)

Nothing larger than 36L. Osprey wins hands down
  13. Bob from L.A. !

Which rain jacket is best for a mid-April to end of May walk?

Neither! I would opt for a poncho, which provides ample body coverage, pack coverage and above all the needed free-flowing ventilation to keep you and your clothes dry, thus precluding any chance of chills and/or hypothermia.

Trekking poles in my carry on luggage

My exact scenario four times. It's become a running joke amongst my travel friends. And yet on 1 flight the lady sitting across from me had two 12 inch knitting needles and a pair of scissors in hand while she was knitting. (Comical, but I "Get it").........

What a great story. Thank you for sharing it.

    Your favorite camino hat!

I prefer walking in the hotter months so I routinely walk with a wide brimmed hat to alleviate sun, both on my face and back of my neck. Not long ago I found this great hat online and couldn't resist buying it. It is a straw hat with a fan on the front blowing air into the interior of the hat...

Do you carry an umbrella for the Camino?

I couldn't agree more with this statement..
