So glad you found pacer poles. I found out about them in 2012 before my first Camino and they saved my bacon! I couldn’t use regular polls either because of the thumb issue. Trigger thumb is no joke!
They were also a huge help with my knees.
In my 2016 Camino I was walking down towards Alcebo...
If you can find a light weight linen fabric it works wonderfully. It absorbs doesn’t stick and dries quickly on the line after your shower. Mine is 45 x 36 and I love it.
I had the same problem with standard walking poles. I always had a blister. I have used pacer polls for the last eight years and love them. They really do help and no blisters.I am old, and overweight, and have little upper body strength. I will not go walking without my pacer poles!
In 2012 I found two pair of REI capris on the sale rack that must have been returned from an online purchase. As you can see by my profile photo I have some hips. They worked for two Caminos so far and still going. Lightweight, stretchy , fast drying, pockets, and adjustable waist. The pants...
I used the trail Hokas and loved them. They held up. I used Merrill Moab ventilators the first time with great results but developed plantar faciatis while training for my second and the Hokas were the only shoe I could wear without pain walking or not.
I wore Merrill Moab Ventilators in 2012, loved them, had no problems or blisters. Bought a new pair this year and have had so many foot issues! I have changed, I don't think it's the boots.
I now am using Hoka Challenger trail shoes, with the laces side laced in the middle to free up the high...
Yes, I bought a very lightweight linen yard of fabric and it worked very well. Dries quickly and actually takes the water off instead of moving it around. :)
I am happy for you getting your Pacer Poles. I was so undecided and fretting before my CF in 2012 whether they would work for me, or I should spend the money or... ? I was playing Words with Friends and two words crossed each other- pacer across and poles, going down. I have really been so...
I bought a 2 oz bottle at REI and filled it with a mild liquid dish soap to wash my clothes. What was I thinking?!
Just got back from the Camino Frances so it was too hot and sweaty for mild soap. I would get a soap that is made for cold water unless you are going to stay in hotels that have...
As someone who has just returned a couple of weeks ago, I would highly recommend spending the money and effort to get Pacer Poles. They made all the difference even on the flat terrain. Mine are carbon and they collapse down fairly short and are very lightweight. The angled handle prevented...
I am so excited to hear you are loving your poles. Because I started having knee and ankle issues while training, ( starting June 14 in Leon) I ordered some Pacer Poles last week.
My budget is so tight so I was wondering if I had made a mistake. I was playing words with friends on facebook...
I got the Merrill Moab and have never had a blister or sore feet. I tried on every boot in REI and they were the most comfortable. I have a high instep and arch. I feel it's important to try a lot of different styles and brands on at once after walking to get the feet swell and you will know...
