Jackets, Vests, etc...What to leave behind?

Dear mmmdumplings, My wife and I walked the Camino in September and the weather was generally wonderful. Some times wet, occasionally brisk but nice. And we had the first hurricane to hit Spain in 30 years to boot. We layered. Tee or undershirt, Exofficio outer long sleve shirt, occasionally...

    clothes pins/clothes line

You probably won't need a line but a few feet of string will weigh nothing, and could come in handy. As to pins, we took large safety pins, and used them on the lines and to attach not quite dry clothes to our packs as we walked the next day. Many other uses too, and they don't weigh...

Can you recommend a good, light, inexpensive sleeping bag?

Max. We did our Camino in September 2006, the weather was generally good, ocassionally wet, and brisk from time to time, and had a Hurricane to boot. Remember, you will be sleeping inside in a bed, on a mattress. So we took fleece sleeping bag liners with silk sleep sacks. Every Alburge we...

I took a Leatherman Micro too, and a flashlight about that size, which were connected by a ring. Knife came in handy cutting bread, cheese and sausage, etc., for breakfast and lunch. Opening pacagages, too. The torch came in handy at various times, usually night and while it was dark. Cast...

    Crocs!!

Andy, I used Crocks as my town shoe and my shower shoes both, during my walk last September. Walked quite a bit around town at night too. Some times I wore socks, some times not. They were really comfortable . . . and light. Bulk? I just rolled up my socks, t-shirt or what ever and...

    digital cameras

20 AA Lithuim batteries were us $19. in Austin, Texas. AA batteries are what our cameras use, that's one reason we chose them. AA recharable batteries are what we generally use at home. But the weight/space/convience factors are why I chose Lithium for the Camino. Jerry

    Sheets, Packs, and Shoes

Ulysse, My bad, it was Gordon. We saw trees fall, limbs whizz by, and had no idea it was a Hurricane. We stopped at Linares and the power was off in the Bar/cafe. Quite a day. The alburge in Tricastela never looked so good. Thanks for the revision.... Ultrea, Jerry

    Inexpensive Sleeping Bag

My wife and I walked in September, of 2006. We used fleece sleeping bag liners, about 2lbs and $10, and had silk sleeping bag liners, 12 ounces and $50 U.S.. You need to be comfortable while you sleep, and I wanted something between me and the beds 100s had used before me. I even carried...
