    Carry-on Size Backpack

The wireframe portion of my Lowe Alpine Airzone Pro 45:55 comes in at bang on 56cm so maybe worth considering. I've always found that as long as that fits you can squish the rest of the pack in. Also assuming your bag isn't 100% full and you're able to position it somewhat diagonally in the...

    Carry-on Size Backpack

Wow, that's a great deal @hieudovan congrats! What size is your current backpack? I've got 45:55 litre pack with a wire frame running the length of the 45 litre section and that qualifies as hand luggage on all but the meanest of short haul fights. I'd suggest that if your pack is bigger than...

    Sandal size

By regular advice applied I meant going one size higher, sorry, I'm sometimes super unclear. But I'm guessing with the Newports it won't be such an issue. I also feel that with the sandals the use of thick or even double layers of socks isn't so useful and so you don't need the extra room.

    Sandal size

Hi @BBO which model Keen are you looking at? I wore Arroyo IIs and with both a closed toe and heel the regular shoe sizing advice applied.

Walking The Meseta in Late October .. what shoes to wear?

Hi @Rebecca Pappa Sounds like a lot of us will be on the Meseta in October :). I'll most likely be wearing Keen Arroyos which served me well on my last camino and are sort of a halfway house between between a sandal and a shoe with a closed toe box and heel and relatively small holes...

One pair of hiking footwear or two?

Hi @Sheepdog19055 and welcome to the forum. Personally I don't carry two pairs of footwear but I've certainly had days when I've changed into my flip flops a few kms before reaching my destination because I've started to feel the accumulation of pressure over the day. People may say this means...

    portable charger fuse chicken

Sorry @kirkie but that power bank is abysmal value and doesn't even hold enough charge to fully power a modern smartphone. The fact that it's recommended for use with phones from four generations ago, when incidentally it still wouldn't have had enough juice to fully charge many of them, shows...

    portable charger fuse chicken

    Great minds....

    portable charger fuse chicken

Welcome @Westlake. I'm not quite sure why this wouldn't be compatible with a Pixel 3a, it only needs a USB cable right? When I was on camino I took something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072K5SFHG/?tag=casaivar-21 Anker are a well respected brand and the multiple ports mean that...

The Shoulder Harness System: the first essential component for a good backpack

Fantastic clear advice Dave. Perhaps a copy could be added to the "equipment and Gear" part of the Resources section.

    Anyone wear white?

Good luck @Bradypus Seriously considering doing the Henro Michi in the not too distant future. Would love to hear how you got on, accounts in English are still fairly thin on the ground.

    Anyone wear white?

Good news is no-one will care! Most of us end up looking like tramps, which I suppose is appropriate, by the end.

    Sleeping bag?

Hi @SHREKS WIFE When I started out at the end of April (2015) just a liner was fine for me, the only night I was cold was at O Cebreiro and that was a price I was more than happy to pay for not to have to lug around a full sleeping bag for weeks. Buen camino, Rob.

Is it OK to keep your pack on your top bunk with you?

Hi @Yumadons I agree with the advice above but I wouldn't stress too much, you'll soon find a routine that works for you. Also albergues vary quite a bit so difficult to have hard and fast rules, some (like Roncesvalles) have lockers for bags, others might be so cramped you have to stow your...

How long do your shoes last?

But would you want your footwear made out of tyre rubber? I'm guessing not! The fact is that durability and comfort are pretty much always mutually exclusive. My heavy Keen boots are great for the odd day bog trotting around Wales and have lasted years but I'd never use them on camino, meanwhile...

    Traveling with backpack

I'm glad I'm not the only one this has occurred to. I've seen the cling film wrappers in operation at airports and they go through ridiculous amounts of the stuff.

    Traveling with backpack

Hi Andy, Truth is that with all but the most high end hard shell luggage getting into your bag either with a brute force or lock picking attack is laughably easy, see numerous videos on Youtube for proof. At least with a backpack you look like a person who is unlikely to be carrying high value...

    Pack Weight and Other Impediments

Great. Now all we need to do is find two pilgrims who agree on what that advice should be ;)

    Pack Weight and Other Impediments

@dougfitz and @Bradypus Having run out of water and been on the brink of heatstroke on the path into Hontanas, despite a 2.5 litre bladder, I concur that this is an issue on the CF. I was merely pointing out that if we are to beat @Bob Howard with a stick it should at least be the right stick...

    Pack Weight and Other Impediments

@Bradypus In @Bob Howard 's defence this is a specifically Camino Frances thread so bringing in VdlP seems a little unfair.
